(5/5) Finally, we also make the case for using a broader set of evaluation metrics for 3D pose tracking algorithms, performance assessment on only a small set of hand-labeled poses can be misleading. ~Thanks~
(1/5) Excited to share our new paper, “Improved 3D Markerless Mouse Pose Estimation Using Temporal Semi-supervision”, recently published in International Journal of Computer Vision.

(4/5) In addition to our model, we also tested a range of contemporary 3D algorithms. Some simple modifications to these other algorithms also improved performance when labeled data were scarce. So I encourage you to check it out, even if you are not using a volumetric 3D model.
Check out our newly published paper in @eLife. In collaboration with the @evaaimable lab, we use a multi-camera array microscope (MCAM) to achieve cost-effective high-resolution, large-area "gigapixel" imaging of living organisms 📷. https://t.co/iicLxXzcNs
@karpathy Kahneman used this same bat and ball problem to describe the difference between human system 1 (fast thinking -- humans get the wrong answer) and system 2 (slow thinking)
.@DukeNeuro is hiring faculty! NHP and other animal models all of potential interest. Great dept, great colleagues, great place to live. Please apply/circulate to those interested! Deadline 10/15/22 but late applications considered. #neurojobs https://t.co/gsMjfEL6tB
@CharlieReece@mpattonchapman@CityofDurhamNC@NCDOT With our luck the engineer would do a study, see that cars are routinely driving 70 mph (in what honestly should be a 25 mph zone) and then just raise the speed limit to 70 to match the natural flow of traffic.
@CharlieReece@mpattonchapman@CityofDurhamNC@DurhamCouncil Has the city taken control of any NCDOT roads before? What can we do to help make this happen?
I have personally witnessed two major accidents on Gregson and Markham/Urban (and I haven't lived here very long), including one with a flipped SUV.
I said I'd release a @CosyneMeeting blog... but there was so much info (🤓&😭) so...
I decided to release two! 🤩 🧠

Hi, we're organizing the 2nd CV4Animals workshop at CVPR'22! We have an amazing speaker lineup: @sarameghanbeery, Timothy Dunn, @FuaPv, Hedvig Kjellström, @songofdodo, and Amir Patel!
Save the date, and submit an abstract to our workshop to present! Deadline: April 29 2022
(1/2) In collaboration with @timwdunn lab, COL introduces a low-cost multi-lens microscopic system that can extract diagnostically-relevant features from different sample regions.
@neuroecology Not an exhaustive history, but I really enjoyed Helmreich's "The Brooklyn Nobody Knows." https://t.co/Lcd6UYEbl2
He also wrote Manhattan/Queens versions.
@blsabatini@MathWorks Seems like they were inspired by numpy array broadcasting, although there are additional safeguards in numpy.
Found this blog post justifying the switch: https://t.co/iSczRV7pGw
Also a follow-up addressing your example: https://t.co/6w3kXANO4Q
@KokaBoothAmp@TianyuArts@TownofCary How does one buy an "Any Night" ticket? In person at the box office? I don't see them available on your website/etix. Thx
3D behavior tracking pioneer @HelgeRhodin is giving a virtual talk, "Difficulties and Dangers in Estimating Human Pose from Video", at @DukeU tomorrow Nov. 19 at 12PM Eastern. Open to all, but you need to register to get a zoom link: https://t.co/vpECgWLuHl
.@NIHDirector w/ @lexfridman on NIH BRAIN Initiative: "I will not ever forget having the chance to announce that program in the East Room of the White House with @BarackObama, who totally got it and totally loved science... that's a gift."
@DurhamComplete There was talk of a two-way street solution when I moved into the neighborhood almost 4 years ago. Are we any closer to such a thing?
Seems the answer from the city is always just to blame NC DOT.
What can we do to help?
