@himebruna Que gesto bonito.
@BowsersaurusRex@prerat But you can reframe it to anything you want to influence the results, you can make it like so:
"If >50% presses red, everyone who pressed blue dies.
If <50% presses red, everyone lives"
Same problem. But way less people would be inclined to press red like this.
@snow_goons@prerat I've been tweeting this a lot today, but the phrasing makes all the difference in what people press. It could be like:
"If >50% press red, everyone who pressed blue dies.
If <50% press red, everyone lives"
Way less people would be inclined to press red with this phrasing.
@snow_goons@prerat Not really, it's the exact same problem, different phrasing. Just changed the "Press the other button" to "Do nothing". In your own phrase "the people who do nothing are essentially commiting suicide if more than half also does nothing" in this scenario. Red still guarantees life
@DaddyWarpig This is all just about the phrasing. If it was:
"If >50% press red, everyone who pressed blue dies.
If <50% press red, everyone lives."
Still the same problem and conditions. But this way makes you think "why would anyone press red? Just don't press it and everyone gets to live"

@0zarkian@uncatherio "If you press red, you live.
If you press blue, you live only if >50% also presses blue with you."
Which would make waaay more people just pressing the red button, though not 100%, of course, and pressing blue seem pointless.
@0zarkian@uncatherio My point was that there is such a split because of the phrasing. I gave an example that makes it look like there's no point on pressing red other than risking anyone who presses blue. But you could also phrase it like this:
@0zarkian@uncatherio It's all about the phrasing. If it was:
"If >50% press red, everyone who pressed blue dies.

@Freakoutery@wbic16 So, in other words, it's not like it's phrased in a misleading way. Or rather, any phrasing could be considered misleading, since you could probably change the results a lot by changing how you phrase it.
@Freakoutery@wbic16 Or instead of the blender you could just change it to:
"If you press the red button, you live.
If you press the blue button, you live only if >50% also press the blue button"
Which would probably make waay more people press red, though not 100%, of course.
@izzynobre Nunca fui do sci-fi. Tentei dar uma chance esse ano e começei a ler o problema dos três corpos. To há uns 5 meses tentando terminar de ler. Agora to quase terminando e não me pegou em momento algum. Tem coisas que não vão, mesmo o livro sendo ótimo.
