“Rewards” experienced without prior effort are not rewards b/c they reinforce laziness & over time, diminish our motivation & joy. Effort that precedes reward is the path to sustained motivation, mood & success. This is all grounded in neural circuits of motivated reinforcement.

It's taken me more than 3 1/2 years to be able to listen and watch a William Van Cleave webinar. My friends out there who knew and learned from William, and called him friend, understand that statement. What a gift he was as a friend and a teacher, and his passing was and always will be painful.
Tonight I am also grateful for the ability to hear his voice again, to see him teaching, and continue to learn from him, and you should, too.
This Wakelet is a place to start, to honor the legacy he leaves us, and to continue it, as best we can, because there is only one William Van Cleave.

@FaithBorkowsky@NateJoseph19@BoksnerJudy I always enjoy listening or reading what all three of you have to say. As an educator, what I find most exhausting is having the knowledge but not having the tools.
As I work with students across multiple grade levels, I’m feeling lost on how to help teachers without the tools.
The Express Readers website is such a gift! What great resources!! I’m so glad to have printable books to send home that match the professionally published books in my classroom. @EliseLovejoy@ExpressReaders

This among our most popular guest episodes ever. Regardless of age, it serves as a “how to map out and navigate your best possible life” guide. From someone who has spent his entire career guiding people to do just that. Such wisdom in JH. https://t.co/ssBcaclNXu
