@SallyBrabble @FractalGeekUK @EU_Commission It's a common misunderstanding, but "USB-C" really just means the cable is using the the 24-pin reversible connector type (which spans many techonological generations and use cases).
Can recommend a glance at the wiki page, since there is too much info to list here.

@LeRef5 @FractalGeekUK @EU_Commission Yes, that is correct. They're mandating the use of the USB-C connector/socket, but be aware that they're not freezing the technology. All in all it's a convenient feature for consumers just like we have standardized wall sockets.

You can think of USB C as a backwards compatible socket type.
