@CLondoner92 Wasn't £10 flat for long so I expect this fee will be increased incrementally every year now, like paper single Tube fares. The change to a non-refundable fee shortly proceeded the Proteus contract (next-gen Oyster etc) going out to tender in late 2022.
@tdubey@CLondoner92 Long-term goal is to replace existing Oyster system (balance / tickets stored on card) with next-gen Oyster system (balance / tickets stored in backend servers). Existing cards won't be compatible with the latter so in 5 years' time (give or take) they'll start to be swapped out
@danls07@TfL My guess is no such fare for that journey exists. Alternatively if you split the journeys at Stratford (i.e. touch out and touch back in) it may save you 2 or 3 quid as there is a non-Z1 fare for Parkway - Stratford.
@CLondoner92 Enabling contactless PAYG on Merseyrail is welcome, but the MetroCard-only Chester anomaly will catch people out until they can agree terms with TfW (who manage the station and are developing their own contactless PAYG scheme there as well).
Preparation for the construction of a new footbridge with lifts at Luton station has started if this poster I recently spotted is correct. Think @LutonEye will be pleased to see this
@Splodgenesser@chilternrailway They're reallocating the carriages from other services, particularly those to/from Aylesbury VP via Amersham.

@Nev_Pilcher@ChrisP_Brighton@SouthernRailUK IMO it's no error, strictly speaking. GTR do this every time an all-line Purley-Gatwick block is scheduled, basically to ensure passengers to/from Brighton et al go for the East Grinstead rail replacement link instead of the diverted Victoria-Gatwick service.
@danls07@TLRailUK Yes - you tap in as normal, then you're directed through a shortcut to the replacement buses outside. On arrival at East Grinstead you're directed through another shortcut to the trains.
At least that's how it worked during the previous January diversions.
@TLRailUK@danls07 TL site disagrees - it says both CPAY & Oyster journeys are permitted on both diversions via EGR / HRH.
I went via EGR in January 2025 and notices there mentioned special touch-out arrangements at Gatwick Airport for both types of journey.

@ben_slayman@greateranglia If you're able to return from Liverpool Street before 4pm / after 7pm it's £29.25 combined (£13.95 for an Off Peak Day Single).
@ben_slayman@greateranglia GA used this particular fare revision to essentially add a premium to Stansted Airport -> London journeys, pure and simple.
The Anytime Return no longer exists for your journey but you can still buy two Anytime Day Singles (£15.30 each way) for a combined return fare of £30.60.
@greateranglia@ally_jw For example - note that various journeys from TOM to anywhere between RYN and SSD inclusive (and vice versa) don't involve TfL gates but still have this same "no eTicket" issue where the new Off Peak Day fares are concerned. 3/3
@greateranglia@ally_jw It's the fare setter's responsibility to manually enable eTickets for each flow+fare combo, so GA either haven't got round to it yet or aren't bothered. Using TfL gates as justification doesn't wash unless it's a cross-London journey where Zone 1 TfL transfers are included. 2/3
@ally_jw@greateranglia In the national Retail Control System e-ticket fulfilment is disabled by default. It has to be enabled manually for every combination of origin / destination / ticket type and GA likely overlooked it for the new Off Peak Day Return which replaced the old (& Super) namesakes.
@Loukashair@greateranglia If you go to https://t.co/MdqLixzqtT and create an account, you can request a refund. If TfL receive proof of your conversation with Greater Anglia that should help.
(BTW contactless to Harlow Town / Stansted etc is now delayed until summer 2026. Announced just this morning)
@LiamCromar@greateranglia Just been announced contactless fares to/from Stansted Airport and 19 other Greater Anglia stations now delayed until summer 2026.
