@Soaring11537952@ChemsYouTube Also left out: stealing footage from the channels of real creators. Every day I have these “automated” YouTube channels ripping footage from my vids.
@theroborourke@AliAbdaal Yes this ⬆️ Many creators maintain a facade of “it’s all vibes, man” and never talk about the business side of what they do. So when they begin monetizing, it comes as a big shock to their audience.
@TheEditingPod This was SUCH a great episode! Loved the diverse range of cuts you discussed, from the cut that creates ambiguity to the non-cut that increases tension to the comedic cut. I’m so glad you all joined forces to create this podcast! 👏🏼👏🏼
@robertoblake It’s also interesting to see that many big YouTubers got their first break on TV. And parlayed that into a YouTube career. I think that’s also under discussed.
@RileyCardwell Guilty as charged. 😅 In my defense, recruiting for good talent has been really difficult. Even with many layers of vetting via job applications, test projects etc.
If you start now, by 2023 you'll have:
- A growing online brand
- 3 months worth of content to showcase
- An understanding of how this "content creation" thing works
That's a serious head start on the people who are waiting till January next year to get started.
@ADCARTATTACK I kind of enjoy that they made Daniel so annoying in this series and keep calling out the fact that he was kind of a dick in the movies too lol. It’s made me look at the movies totally differently!
@BrianClark@robertoblake@jayclouse I think true edutainment may be the hardest format of all, at least on YouTube - in terms of achieving serious scale and mass appeal. Mark Rober does it well. Veritasium too. But they’re few and far between.
If you've ever watched one of our YouTube videos, left a comment, liked a video, or recommended our channel to a friend, we are so grateful for your support!

🥳 A huge thank you for 100,000 YouTube subscribers!
Some creators hit these milestones really quickly, but for us, it's been a long slog filled with starts, stops, highs, lows and lots of trial and error.
(We keep our Shorts on a separate channel for many different reasons, including being able to distinguish between subscribers that come from long- versus short-form content, since those numbers signify different things to us.)
