In Ohio, quei panettieri possono difendersi. In Italia, dovrebbero subire le violenze e magari sentirsi spiegare, il giorno dopo, che “in fondo erano soltanto cose” ed “è accaduto, non ci si può fare niente”.
A priest died in Ecuador yesterday. His name is Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari. He was saying Mass in Guayaquil when a big wooden cross fell on him. The Mass was live on the internet. People saw it happen. The church said he died. He was the priest at Perpetuo Socorro church.
Pray for him. May his soul rest in peace.

Today I walked into a Catholic church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that could hold its own against the great basilicas of Rome.
And the story behind it is almost as magnificent as the church itself.
The Basilica of St. Josaphat was built by Polish Catholic immigrants, many of them working-class families who had come to America with little money but an extraordinary devotion to their faith.
By the 1890s, their parish had grown to more than 12,000 souls. Their first church had burned down. Their second was too small. So they decided to build something astonishing.
A church modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Their pastor, Father Wilhelm Grutza, learned that an enormous post office and customs building in Chicago was being demolished. He purchased it for $20,000, had it dismantled, and transported its materials to Milwaukee on FIVE HUNDRED railroad cars.
Stone by stone, these Catholic immigrants built their own little piece of Rome.
When the church was completed in 1901, its colossal dome was surpassed in size in America only by the dome of the U.S. Capitol.
But they weren't finished. After years of sacrifice and debt, the church's interior was transformed with magnificent Austrian stained glass, soaring columns, elaborate ornamentation, and breathtaking sacred paintings.
In 1929, Pope Pius XI elevated it to the dignity of a minor basilica—the first Polish-American church to receive that honor.
And the result?
One of the most magnificent Catholic churches in the United States. I have visited some of Europe's great churches, and this basilica genuinely rivals them in beauty and grandeur.
But what moved me most wasn't the dome or the artwork. It was the people who built it.
Ordinary Catholic families who understood something our age has largely forgotten: The house of God should lift man's eyes from earth to Heaven. They did built this for His glory.
And more than 125 years later, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is still offered beneath that magnificent dome.
Deo gratias.
St. Josaphat, pray for us. 🇵🇱
How the fuck is Hetfield NOT wanting to divide the @Metallica audience “controversial”?! I was at this show when he said this and it got the most applause of the night. Truly insane on every level! So now it’s controversial to go play your songs & give the audience a break from politics for 2 hours?! WTF??!
This is it. We’re at the toughest part. Season Six covers the 24 hours of the events surrounding Jesus’ death.
It was painful to shoot, and it’s painful to contemplate.
But if there’s one thing I want you to take away from this season, it’s that Jesus chose this path. He even tells the apostles he could be rescued from it if he wanted.
He chose surrender and humility and sacrifice. Knowing that should make this story a little less painful.
Starting November 15th on @PrimeVideo, you’ll experience the climax of what’s been building for five seasons.
Season Five was the powder keg. In Season Six, it explodes.

Master of Puppets.
That opening riff alone is pure thrash perfection, then it shifts into complex structures, a haunting clean interlude, and back to controlled chaos—all in under nine minutes. Lyrically razor-sharp on addiction and control, it defined the genre’s technical peak and still crushes arenas decades later. Nothing else matches that combination of aggression, innovation, and lasting impact.
In Fatima tonight, hundreds of thousands of faithful are praying the rosary for the good health of the “Bishop dressed in white”, Pope Leo XIV, who will be admitted to hospital tomorrow for surgery to remove a nodule in his lung.
