The answer is... The least amount of supply up to an amount enough to fill your trade efficiency. You want the smallest supply with the largest proportional demand, but not less than an amount that would effectively cover your risk tolerance. The short answer... no more than necessary.

The objective of finding stocks with a game-changing catalyst is to find a stock that will increase your overall account by 10 to 50% in one trade. This essentially means the stock should be capable of a big move, and you should risk sufficiently big on it.

Look for a game-changing earnings surprise announced after hours or before the market opens. For this, look at pre-market gainers and last night's after-close gainers.
