If Milwaukee is just as well run, why should they also have to overcome a massive payroll gap? That’s exactly what a cap fixes.

Those moves are infamous because they’re massive outliers. MLB doesn’t even have the financial guardrails that made those teams exceptions, which is exactly the problem.

@tipping_pitches So we’re arguing in bad faith? Nobody said every team would offer the same contract or that players would stop preferring Southern California. A cap means LA can’t endlessly outspend everyone. Players can still choose LA; LA just can’t sign every star who wants to be there.
