@rationalaussie I can’t see beyond 2030 - the pace of AI acceleration makes it too hard to predict what the world will look like.
But right now, everyone needs to be furiously using AI as much as possible to survive the next two years. I’m grinding with Claude 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
@rationalaussie I find it ironic that a lot of people who had large startup exits under the existing rules, are justifying the higher taxes, now they’ll not be hit by them.
@rationalaussie It’s the tech bro circle jerk for those easily impressed by the “credentials” of having been in the vicinity of successful people - and that somehow their presence contributed to that success.
@AvidCommentator I know a few ordinary working serfs who now have $1 million+ in tax free equity in their PPOR who are looking at relocating to Bali, Malaysia, etc for a cheaper life.
Australia is no longer the land of opportunity - it is the land of government corruption, grift and cronyism.
@Theblackfemini3@3AWNeilMitchell He's also going after all the people who want to take a risk to invest in or start businesses - now when they sell, you get whacked 47% instead of 23.5% CGT.
It's part of the socialist plan to make everything other than government employment not worth the risk.
@WallStreetMav Easy answer: Australians are dumb and elect even dumber politicians that are more concerned with propping up the immigration and property ponzi schemes than building sovereign capability.
@ellymelly Australia experienced a post-war boom in labour-saving innovations, partly because we did NOT rely on cheap imported labour.
Visiting any of the agricultural museums (e.g. Nambour), you'll see a history of everyday farmers inventing things to save labour.
@ellymelly Pensioners are a great untapped resource - the amount they can earn from working without affecting their pension is miniscule. Many would welcome 10-20 hours of work a week to top up their pension, but beyond a few hours a week, it isn't worth it.
@rationalaussie No gas => no fertilizer => no food.
No diesel => no fuel for planting => no food.
No diesel => no fuel for harvesting => no food.
No diesel => no transport for crops => no food.
Australia could be facing food shortages within 3 to 6 months because of the above.
