A Copy of the Indian Book?
The administration in demolished a building belonging to the family of Khwaja Mehran Arshad, a core member of the Joint Awami Action Committee, claiming that it was an illegal construction.
So where was the administration all these years?
If this building was illegal, why was it allowed to remain standing for years, and why has the administration decided to demolish it now, when Khwaja Mehran is a leading figure in the ongoing protest movement?
Khwaja Mehran has also faced legal action from the authorities while playing a prominent role in the protests.
Is this really about an allegedly illegal building, or does the timing expose a wider campaign against the protest leadership?
And what about the civilian properties, vehicles and homes vandalised and robbed by the Pakistani Rangers in Kashmir?
Pakistani Rangers used tear gas and gunfire during the protest, indiscriminately fired at the protesters created unrest in Pakistan administered Kashmir, and killed hundreds of people.
Were all these people, properties and vehicles suddenly a problem only when Kashmiris stood up against the corrupt ruling elite in Muzaffarabad and challenged the neighbouring country Pakistan’s illegal role in their region?
If the law is the justification, then the law should be applied consistently not selectively when people protest against those in power.
