REC is committed towards powering India’s brighter future with Solar!

REC Regional Office, Chennai participated in a Capacity Building Workshop for PM- Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana stakeholders, organised by the Superintending Engineer, Krishnagiri circle, TNPDCL in coordination with District Climate Change mission, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu on 19.06.2025.

The programme was chaired by Shri C. Dinesh Kumar IAS District Collector, Krishnagiri. Ms.Thara Ramesh HOD & CPM from REC RO-Chennai shared insights on solar energy implementation.

Ms. Ramesh delivered a detailed presentation focusing on the roof top solar installation under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and encouraged the participants to actively contribute to the climate action goals by scaling up roof top solar deployment across Krishnagiri district.

The workshop witnessed participation from various state Government officials and PM Surya Ghar vendors fostering meaningful discussions on strategies for accelerating solar adoption.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Shri @mlkhattar , chaired a meeting today with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturers, developers, and senior officials of the Ministry to review the current status and manufacturing landscape of BESS in India.

Discussions focused on the battery value chain, emerging technologies, the energy storage market, cost dynamics, projected sectoral growth, and government initiatives to promote BESS development. Key challenges were also deliberated. The Minister reviewed strategic recommendations from the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) aimed at accelerating the adoption and deployment of energy storage solutions in the country.

REC Limited Commits ₹0.24 Crore under CSR for solar installations across identified locations in Goa.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, REC Limited has committed ₹0.24 crore for the installation of solar panels aimed at generating 60 KW of clean, renewable energy. The project envisions the deployment of solar systems at 11 community-centric locations across North and South Goa, promoting sustainable development and enhancing energy access at the grassroots level.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on 23rd June 2025 between Mr. Vijay B. Saxena, Joint CEO, Goa CSR Authority, and Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Foundation. The Goa CSR Authority will serve as the implementing agency for this initiative.

This collaboration reaffirms REC’s commitment to supporting green energy solutions and empowering communities through sustainable infrastructure.

As an Independent Director of the @RECLindia , a Maharatna company under the Ministry of Power, it gives me immense pleasure and I am very proud that the Mobile Medical Units given to Redcross by @RECLindia under it’s CSR activity is doing a great service to the common people, particularly the Rural poor people.

This particular MMU is at Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu has so far reached more than 10,000 people in less than six months at their door steps providing healthcare.

A total of seven Mobile Medical Units are serving every day at seven districts now and further more units will be in place very shortly in more districts.

It’s a great effort by @RECLindia and Redcross , Tamil Nadu. I thank and congratulate all the concerned for their best efforts.

यह राजभाषा दीप्ति शील्ड माननीय विद्युत एवं आवासन और शहरी कार्य मंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल द्वारा आरईसी लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक श्री जितेन्द्र श्रीवास्तव एवं कार्यपालक निदेशक (राजभाषा) श्री आर.पी. वैष्णव को प्रदान की गई।

RECPDCL handed over a project specific SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) of ISTS Transmission Project under TBCB route viz, WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Limited to Adani Energy Solutions Limited on 30th May 2025. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 1,807.46 Crore.

Adani Energy Solutions Limited emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator, for development of the transmission project on Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The SPV was handed over by Shri T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL to Shri Sanjay Arvind Johri, Vice President (BD), Adani Energy Solutions Limited in the presence of Senior Officials of RECPDCL, Adani Energy Solutions Limited and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited. The implementation period of the project is till 01.01.2028.

The scheme covers establishment of 765/400 kV (2x1500 MVA) Substaion near South of Kalamb, LILO of approx. 89.18 km of 765 KV Pune-III to Boisar-II line along with other associated works.

As part of #SwachhthaPakhwada 2025, the REC’s Regional Office in Vijayawada carried out a distribution drive of dustbins across three Upper Primary Health Care Centres — APIIC, Shanthinagar, and RR Peta; and two government schools — Kendriya Vidyalaya & SRKR MC Govt. School.

The demarcated dustbins will encourage people to segregate waste and contribute towards the effective management of waste.

As part of the inaugural programme of Swachhata Pakhwada, Sh. Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, CMD, REC Ltd, unveiled a massive Charkha- the symbol of self-reliance and sustainability, made entirely out of repurposed waste at the REC Corporate Office Gurugram today.

The installation weighing 200 kgs, crafted with recycled iron beautifully exemplifies a key idea of the Swachhata movement – with creativity and intent, we can infuse a new life even into our waste items.

At REC, giving back to society isn’t just a norm – it is our commitment and core belief!

Today, Sh. Sunil Gavaskar, legendary Indian cricketer and trustee of the Shri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust (SSSHET), met Sh. Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, CMD, REC Ltd., to discuss REC’s ongoing CSR intervention – “Healing Little Hearts” – at the REC office in Delhi.

Through the “Healing Little Hearts” CSR initiative, REC has extended ₹30 crore as CSR assistance to provide free medical support to children born with congenital heart disease. Under this initiative, 2,100 surgeries have already been conducted at SSSHET’s Sanjeevani hospitals in Raipur, Palwal and Panvel.

Congenital heart disease is one of the most common causes of infant mortality in India. This intervention is truly a ‘gift of life’ for young #CHDWarriors! The SSSHET has dedicated a ward in the name of REC Ltd. at its Sanjeevani Hospital, Raipur, reflecting the joint commitment towards saving little hearts affected by congenital diseases.

REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), the wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd., handed over project specific SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) of ISTS Transmission Project under TBCB route viz, Ratle Kiru Power Transmission Limited to IndiGrid 2 Private Ltd. on 24th March 2025 at Gurugram.

The SPV was handed over by Shri T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL to Shri Puneet Singh Chauhan, Vice President& Head (Commercial), IndiGrid 2 Private Limited in the presence of Senior Officials of RECPDCL, IndiGrid 2 Private Limited and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited. The implementation period of the project is 24 months.

The scheme covers construction of 150 km of400 KV transmission line between Samba (J&K)& Jalandhar (Punjab), 35 kms of 400 KV line between Kishenpur(J&K) & Samba including other associated works. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 1,407.44 Crore.
