Viruses reprogram host cells by reshaping chromatin, but the epigenetic activities of most viral proteins remain unknown. In our new preprint, we use pooled single-cell epigenomic screening to profile 110 viral transcriptional regulators simultaneously, revealing widespread chromatin remodeling, unexpected functional convergence across diverse viruses, and shared targeting of NF-κB, AP-1, p53, and Sp1/KLF regulatory networks. Drug perturbation screens further uncover host pathways required for viral chromatin reprogramming. Phenomenal work by James Corban @james_corb85937!

Phage metagenomes hold powerful secrets! This article breaks down our recent work using Meta-SIFT to uncover functional motifs hidden in viral genomes—and how we used them to engineer phages that kill bacteria responsible for food-borne outbreaks. @ScienceAdvances
Phenomenal work by @phil_huss & fun collab with @KarthikGeomicro.
Thrilled to unveil PhageMaP—a powerful method for mapping phage gene essentiality and decoding gene-environment-function relationships. We created comprehensive gene essentiality maps for model and non-model phages across diverse hosts. Discovered key 'counters' & 'triggers' to evade host defenses and engineered phages with enhanced infectivity. Big shoutout to Jackie Chen for his phenomenal work!

How do we interpret molecular mechanisms of protein allostery from deep mut scan experiments? We have built a generalized thermodynamic model to infer and predict how mutations impact inter-and-intradomain allostery. Great collab with Qiang Cui BU

Our new study demonstrates extreme ruggedness and high epistasis in the evolutionary landscape of a TF family. Gain/loss function between adjacent nodes, rapid switches in specificity and spontaneous GoF at distinct clades. @Jackson_Lab @CellSystemsCP

Our first paper is out in @CellCellPress! Led by @born2raisecell, we present a programmable reaction-diffusion system that generates synthetic protein waves, oscillations, and patterns for spatiotemporal circuit design and FM data-encoding in human cells. https://t.co/lNRtRdJAxx
For over 20 years, Professor James Ntambi has paved the way for students to gain their own understanding of metabolic disorders while connecting with communities throughout his native country of Uganda. Read more in our Q&A: https://t.co/FywsSBvg1D
I'm excited to share our findings on a metal-dependent specificity switch for #CRISPR-Cas12a! We profiled the specificity of Cas12a at four Mg2+ concentrations and observed striking differences in mismatch tolerance at lower, physiological conditions 1/n
