From a conversation with @Mathgarden: Have you an intuitive sense of the curvature of the Earth? Draw a 1-mile segment tangent to surface. What's your guess as to the distance back to surface at endpoint? What is the actual value? (Assume perfect sphere, R=3963 miles.)

Any rectangle and any triangle can be subdivided into any square number count of congruent smaller copies of itself. Is there a shape that subdivides into a non-square number of congruent smaller copies of itself?
Quick question. Is a decimal number, say 23.45, considered to have four-digits? Or when we talk about a four-digit number, does that imply a number in the thousands? I'm not sure.

It is possible to subdivide an equilateral triangle and a square into congruent pieces so that the center of the figure is in the interior of one of the pieces. Can the same be done for a regular hexagon? (For any other regular polygon? For a circle?)
Each and every whole number can be uniquely expressed in a 1 <-- (-2) machine with at most one (actual) dot per box. (eg 3=1|1|1 and -3 = 1|1|0|1). Can one do "decimals" in base -2? What's one-half? What's one-third? #explodingdots
