@dewald8844@nosilverv I suspect that any large scale dissolution of meaning via job loss will be mostly overshadowed and muted by the immediate material scarcity most people will experience, if these predictions actually come to pass.
@vanschneider I think what most of us are struggling with is the chance that the tool—being AI in this case—cannibalizes the act and practice of designing itself. I don't think we're there yet, but it could become the case.
@david_perell I've become very aware of this dynamic, intentionally passing on acquiring certain items knowing that my desire to preserve them will eventually come to significantly reduce the enjoyment I would gain from possessing them.
@vanschneider Like Yancey Strickler says, "the internet appears to be dying from the outside, but it's actually growing from within." Dark forests will become the new spaces for any sort of digital coherence and, frankly, thank God.
@kristinlow@vanschneider What are you attributing to such a collapse? I can't think of anything short of nuclear war/existential climate collapse that could halt our memory of ourselves.
@omooretweets Skipping the questionable ethics involved here, this seems like an opportunity primed for collapse once sufficient AI regulation is put in place.
@divya_venn Your story reminds me of that Faulkner quote. That each of us toil in webs of heredity spun long before we were born, that the dramas of our early life are themselves but ripples of generational consequence. Thank you for sharing, it was beautifully written.
