@CanadaGoose911 That is not why it is inevitable - but it is inevitable. We are in a Moloch Trap dynamic at the level of nation states, AI labs, market competitors, and individuals.
@TrueSlazac “One can be certain that every generally held idea, every received notion, will be idiocy, because it has been able to appeal to the majority.”

@iruletheworldmo worst is that ppl basing their worldviews off of Zitron's punditry are going to suffer real-world harms which could have been avoided if they had taken the technological developments seriously before it was too late
@GregoryConti19 But contrariwise, AI will give more leverage to the already-intelligent, and increase the gini of abilities. The more you know, the more you can use the models to manifest your will and expand your mind. The less you know, the less you can use it for.
@vanschneider Eventually one realises that the only sensible thing to do in the face of the Singularity is 100x your ambitions and embark on the biggest hero's journey you possibly can
@MTSlive 4th option: companies become superintelligent self-organising Minds, and the best we can hope for us to be useful to them as emmissaries or (often secret) agents.

Once the machines can do nearly everything we are currently paid to do, those of us who will not be luxuriating or disappear into a digital oblivion will broadly become either (i) conductors of intelligence, collaboratively directing great orchestras of agents towards ends worth pursuing; (ii) makers of meaning, sustaining the purposes, relations, rituals and communities that make life worth living; or (iii) master craftsmen, whose artful work is prized precisely because a human hand made it. Or some combination. Broadly these respectively align with the pursuit of the eternal virtues of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.
