@RealNirmalK @ArrowInvestor@AlboMP Totally agree. It's so unfair that investors should pay tax.
Taxes should only be for workers, not investors. Also, houses are a vehicle for speculative investment, not a place for young Aussies to raise a family. We can make up for the collapsed birthrate with mass migration.
@Sauronlordking Houses are only at 10x national income. Not enough, I say. It should be 20x, so that old people can feel rich while the young dont buy houses, dont start families, and wither away into nothing. And we can import immigrants to work and serve the boomers. Worst generation ever.
@UziCryptoo In Australia, we don't have yearly property taxes. We have a one-off stamp duty on house purchases that works out to around AUD 60k for the average house.
Property taxes help housing mobility and hurt boomers the most.
Be grateful that you have land taxes and not stamp duty.
@SteviesNewHere@GadSaad Absolutely. Tucker has done more than most to bring attention to it. The comment was poorly thought out as I don't think that Pakistanis have been a nett benefit to England, but I highly doubt Tucker has some hidden agenda to flood Europe with Middle Easterners.
@Katherine_deves I despise Albanese, but boomers are greedy. You can't buy a house for next to nothing, then sit on it and vote to make it appreciate 50x, completely pricing your grandkids out of a normal life, then act shocked when the younger generations begin to resent you.
@bassplayersc1@skumWgmi I think I've achieved plenty. I'm only 29 and I own my own house and I'm about to start a structural engineering consulting firm.
Still though, boomers as a generation are parasites.
@andrewSaaS@ragenut@ausstockchick Brother, ending mass migration will torch investors 10x harder than an end to negative gearing. End mass migration -> housing demand collapses -> prices collapse... simple. I'd hapily take an end to mass migration over changes to CGT and NG.
@VPointon@IsabelPat1886@EdwardDanSmith@JChimirie66677@Annecagm@miriam_cates Yes, indeed you did pay for all 17 silent generation members that actually made it to retirement.
Today, young people need to carry the burden of too many boomers for 15+ years avg.
Boomers are breaking the spine of taxpayers.
@tapfornerd In Australia, the average house to income ratio is 10x. In the 70s, this ratio was 3x. I assume the story is pretty similar in America.
Thank you boomers for your wise stewardship of Western civilisation.
@Fish_Flakes546@libsoftiktok She is correct, in the same way that a broken clock is correct twice a day. She may be a parasite, but Trump is losing his mind.
Threatening devastation of Biblical proportions (on Easter), then signing off with a "praise be to Allah" (again, ON EASTER)... he has lost his mind.
@HistoricalBeouf @LauraLoomer@RyanSaavedra@TuckerCarlson To be fair, Tucker Carlson is insanely rich already and has talked about it multiple times. I don't think he is money grubbing at all. The money he is making on his show is pocket change for him. He is saying what he really believes.
@PrometheanPrt@Sargon_of_Akkad What if we put Israeli soldiers on US ships and have them land on the Hormuz coastline? Surely this can be done instead of sending American boys...
