@laineyshep @scottish_water @scotgov Sadly discharge of sewage into Scottish waters is a growing problem (40% increase of spills over last 5 years). Severe weather (climate change) being blamed by overwhelming urban sewage systems & also restriction to act from Westminster (funding)

Many people, when it comes to issues impacting the marine environment, think of coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef or plastic pollution in the Pacific. But how many people know what’s happening in our own waters?

Scottish seas are in trouble. We need to talk about it.

Includes 596 cigarette butts alone, with 977 total plastic/polystyrene items lifted.

If you take it with you, take it away. Our campus is beautiful, let’s make sure it stays that way.
