FMC grieves the passing of Former Member Joe Schwarz (R-MI, 2005-2007). A doctor and veteran, Schwarz also served in the Michigan Senate for over a decade and was outspoken against money in government and gerrymandering. Our sincere condolences to his friends and family.
Our Former Members traveled to Pohang City to meet with POSCO and learn more about the history of their company, their steel manufacturing, and their supply chain. We were grateful to be able to tour both their museum and one of their factories! Thank you to our generous hosts.
FMC mourns the loss of Former Member Barney Frank (D-MA, 1981-2013). Known for his wit and advocacy, Frank was one of the nation’s most prominent gay politicians & helped author the Dodd-Frank Act in response to the 2007 financial crisis. Our hearts go out to his many loved ones.
Our Former Members attended the U.S.-Korea Business Expansion Summit, where they spoke about what makes the U.S. so valuable to invest in & answered questions on how to navigate bringing businesses from Korea to the U.S. We were honored to speak with & learn from so many leaders!
While in Korea, our Former Member delegation traveled to the DMZ to meet with U.S. and Korean troops and learn more about their role in maintaining peace on the peninsula. It was an honor to witness firsthand one of the strongest examples of the bond between our nations!

FMC mourns the passing of Former Member Bill Posey (R-FL, 2009-2025). Posey remained a fierce advocate for fiscal responsibility and government transparency throughout his time in Congress, and was also a strong supporter of America’s space program. He will be deeply missed.
FMC is saddened by the loss of Former Member Larry Smith (D-FL, 1983-1993). Smith was deeply passionate about foreign affairs & simultaneously ensured his community & constituents back home in Florida received ample support & attention. Our sincere condolences to his loved ones.

FMC grieves the passing of Former Senator Donald Riegle (D-MI, H: 1967-1976, S: 1976-1995). Riegle was a passionate advocate for workers’ rights and Michigan jobs, and fought for financial reform as Chair of the Senate Banking Committee. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
FMC mourns the loss of former Senator Dirk Kempthorne (R-ID, 1993-1999). During his time in public office Kempthorne also served as Boise Mayor, Governor of Idaho, and Secretary of the Interior, showcasing his commitment to service at every level. Our hearts go out to his family.

FMC is saddened by the loss of Rep. David Scott (D-GA). Scott spent over two decades in Congress and over 50 years in politics serving the state of Georgia, and was notably the first Black chair of the House Agriculture Committee. We mourn alongside his loved ones & constituents.
FMC mourns the passing of Former Member David McKinley (R-WV, 2011-2023). A seventh generation West Virginian, McKinley held a fierce love for his state and fought hard to support coal miners in his district and beyond. Our hearts go out to his loved ones.
