The NPP project is creating jobs in Farish: around 300 local young people are already employed, with more opportunities coming as the nuclear town is built. Local residents will receive hiring priority and targeted training.

During #IAEAGC, the #Uzbekistan’s 🇺🇿 delegation, led by Azim Akhmedkhodjayev, Director @uzatomagency, met with DDGNS Karine Herviou to discuss the progress of the country’s #NPP project, including nuclear security, regulatory capacity building, and fuel supply.
The IAEA reaffirmed its support for Uzbekistan as an embarking country through tailored capacity-building and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Discussions highlighted the value of the Incident Reporting System for Nuclear Power Plants (IRS) and the Agency’s nuclear safety roadmap, which provides peer reviews and training at every stage of programme development.
Long-standing cooperation under the #CGULS project and IAEA support on waste management and environmental remediation were also addressed.
