A frustrated Mumbaikar asking a simple question: what are ordinary citizens supposed to do in situations like this?
See the video. This is not a one-off traffic issue. This is the daily, chronic chaos outside GD/BD Somani School on GD Somani Road, Cuffe Parade captured over time.
The honking, congestion, double parking and road obstruction during school hours has been going on for far too long. I have personally been documenting this with videos and pics on X since 2025.
An online petition was also started, which received 180+ signatures from residents and supporters. A written complaint was submitted to the police with a copy of the petition, all relevant details, pictures and videos.
The relevant authorities have been repeatedly tagged and informed. And yet, there still appears to be no permanent, enforceable solution.
The most unnerving part is that it is not as if nearby space and parking infrastructure do not exist. They do. Please see the pictures. Then why is a narrow public road still being taken over every day?
What are ordinary citizens supposed to do when a public road is allowed to be taken over like this every day? Not asking for a favour. Just asking for basic traffic discipline, noise control, enforcement of no-parking rules, and a permanent solution to a problem that residents have been forced to live with for years.
Is there anyone, anywhere in authority, actually listening to real citizen issues like this? Please tell me if I am missing a step, a process, or a forum somewhere - because ordinary citizens should not have to fight this hard for basic enforcement of the law. 🙏

Failure of law and order.
Dr Nitin Salian a surgeon was physically assaulted outside Pushpa Bhavan, ColabaThis morning for stopping a car from entering a one-way street.
Vehicle: MH-01 ER 7459, White SUV . 2 men got out and assaulted him and then tried to drive into him.
If citizens get beaten for following rules, what’s the point of rules?

*⚠️ Important – Coastal Work at Cuffe Parade*
Residents are informed that stones are being dumped along the sea behind Bayview Marina Garden, Cuffe Parade, near Machhimar Nagar 5, in the name of soil/sea erosion protection.
Such stone bunds may gradually create reclaimable land, which can lead to future encroachments or expansion of slums along the coastline.
Cuffe Parade Residents’ Association (CPRA) has already written to the concerned authorities requesting that tetrapods be installed instead of loose stones, as tetrapods prevent erosion and also prevent construction of huts.
CPRA will also be writing again at the Ministerial level to ensure proper coastal protection and to prevent further encroachment.
