@OVTweetmarck@BasedMikeLee Very illuminating, after days of defenders of the provision insisting it's about housing and getting rid of unused land, for Lee to publicly admit it's because he opposes the concept of public land. Not that there was ever much doubt.
@MatthewJRoth My first reaction to this article was getting mad at cocky NSW guys thinking they're better than everyone, but my second was to imagine a SEAL O-5 trying to command a submarine and laughing at all the ways it would go wrong.
@lukei4655@Uncouth_Bard If, for example, a nuclear mechanic is waiting outside the Manveuvering area to brief the Engineering Duty Officer about maintenance he wants to do, it's not going to affect anything if he puts his hands in his pockets for a minute.
@lukei4655@Uncouth_Bard You have to make sure you're maintaining formality when it's required, but not every situation does. If I was conducting my tour and found an armed watchstander with his hands I'm his pockets, that would be unsat. But not every situation requires the same level of formality.
@dylanmatt@LeahLibresco The relief valve description is wrong. It did lift, and that was properly indicated, but when it should have shut it stuck open, and confusing indications/poor training led operators to think it was shut, which was what led to the loss of core cooling.
@vt__snowflake@ClwnPrncCharlie It's more nuanced than he makes it sound, the surface navy will take any officer from NROTC/Academy, so some surface officers are guys who couldn't get a more competitive assignment, but plenty volunteer for it, and it's easier to make a career of than at least aviation
