@CarolynAChan@PainNewsNetwork death related to opioid overdose has been increasing daily. Exemption of X-waiver will give easy access to pain as well as addiction treatment.#nurs638
@CarterEN9084@MABizRoundtable@HealthyNurseUSA Well said!!! Burnout is real and everyone is suffering not just the nurse but the patients as well as family! Safe ratio for better care
@MusicalAngelRN @DrKimSue Getting wrecked was a good read and gives us a lot of insight into addiction. Addiction is the most talked topic recently due to increase in overdose deaths.
My favorite reading for #nurs638 was Getting Wrecked by @DrKimSue. It opened my eyes to the injustices done to female prisoners with #addiction, and how much we fail those with opioid addiction in the community. I have a better understanding of what some of my patients go through
@nora312115@PHIdotorg@PublicHealth I have learned a lot about policy making and what goes behind it. I learned about stakeholders and their role in policy making.
Multiple Myeloma has claimed the lives of 39.5% of black patients diagnosed since 2015. We know these patients are 37% less likely to receive a stem cell transplant or triplet therapy. How can we address this disparity in cancer care in RVA? @DrRobWinn@VDHCommissioner#nurs638
"Evaluating Public Policy" by Frank Fischer was an eye opening reading for me. It talked about public policy analysis and how to evaluate it to focus in the right direction. #nurs638
#nurs638 has helped me understand the importance of healthcare policy in the community. It has taught me to think outside the box like using social media platform to convey a point across society. As a nurse it is important to know what is going around in order to help society.
Opioid Crisis have been the biggest talk of the town. @ASAMorg & @samhsagov do you think we need more awareness about MAT & resources available for addicts? Help by talking to someone is acceptable, why not spread more awareness for #medicationassistedtreatment?#nurs638
.drug check strips provide an easy & effective way to test for substances like fentanyl. With the rise in overdose deaths due to fentanyl, utilizing cost effective test strips with the support of community partners can make a difference in VA @cfrichmondva@caritas_va#nurs638
OUD is a chronic disease & should be treated as such, including how interventions are monitored. Confirmatory UA will help determine if patients are diverting Bup or taking appropriately. I’d be interested in @papergirlmacy & @VaMedicaidDir thoughts on the subject #nurs638
@RepSpanberger@NewsInTheBurg Seniors deal with lot of issues & the more serious & worrisome is being able to afford daily medication cost. The Inflation Reduction Act is a good way to help them but do you think that seniors will be able to afford $35 co-pay on insulin based on their fixed income? #NURS638
