AI, models, layoffs, 10%, 20%, 25%, 10x, 100x, 1000x, Claude Code this, OpenCode that, low performers, builders, agents, subagents, harness...
I just want to say, it’s all becoming very exhausting.
We are nearing 6 months into the year. How are all of the 10x-100x engineers and their 5-50 years of work they created in 2026 doing?
I can't wait until I see what a century's worth of your code looks like.
I know leads who are so delulu that they're having a hard time understanding when to loop in humans.
Went to ask for increasing restraints on people pushing AI generated code since they are no longer reading it, the reply was "Can we use AI to validate it further?"
LLM psychosis scales with your distance from the code. As a result it tends especially to afflict non-coding managers, PMs, and execs. It’s also a self reinforcing loop. As the code becomes an object of disgust (unreadable pile of vibecoded shit) you are forced to distance yourself further from it and your only interactions with the code are mediated by model.
gonna play the heck out of GTA 6 simply because of its status as a cultural artefact: the final big game built before LLMs
no-one will ever invest this much in a game again, no software will ever encode this quantity of hands-on human labour again. the last of the great pyramids
@arpit_bhayani Well said. I chose frontend because it interests me but the internet keeps pushing me to either dive deep in AI, or maybe backend, neither of which I get any joy out of doing. I still learn the basics tho.
This post reassured me that if I am diving deep into frontend, it's fine.

Let us never glorify this
Boomers didn’t have to work 3 jobs to survive. We do.
I know I’m supposed to accept the world as it is but this isn’t normal.
One shouldn’t need to work 2 jobs to survive
Mythos has been available at Anthropic internally since late February. Yet Claude Code is still shit.
There is no "AGI" and software isn't "solved".
It's just mass AI psychosis at a frontier lab.
Everyone is relying on AI at this point. The difference is that less skilled people don't fully understand the output AI generates.
For SWEs, when you review a PR from someone less skilled, you begin to see patterns in the code they submit. You see unnecessary code all the time, you start asking "why is this here?" "what's the function of this?".. and they can't answer confidently.
Now don't get me wrong, this does not mean senior developers know evrerything. No they don't. They use libraries they don't fully understand all the time.. not a bad thing. The real skill is judgement
But this pattern has existed with Stackoverflow before AI era, so it's not a new thing
I've tried Claude Code and Codex.
The upgrade was nowhere near worth the time needed to adapt.
I ignore new tools that take more than 1 minute to set up and use.
You can build a startup with GPT-3.
