@ClareONeilMP In an inflationary economy (like Australia's) the only way you can maintain your wage's (dollars) purchasing power is by owning assets (shares, property, crypto). These policies disincentivise this, and while they believe they're doing good, they're actually making us poorer.
@ClareONeilMP The Government wants everyone earning a wage from jobs the Government funds through taxes they raise on everyone earning a wage the Government provides.
In this circular loop there's not much incentive for small business owners offering jobs (and wages!) outside the loop.
@IV_Musketeer They do, LAN flies to Santiago via Sydney, Auckland straight past South Pole. I've been on that flight - its wild and kind of unsettling.
tbf to Tucker I think he is looking at this from the Pat Buchanan angle and his book: Churchill, Hitler, and "The Unnecessary War": How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World
He isn't articulating this well though, and as he is prone to do, he gets too invested and wound up in the contest.
It's revealing to me that it's also a theme running through the Sekret Machines work and also Nick Cook's Hunt for Zero Point. There's a great page in there where he debates whether Nazi ideology and SS interest in the occult had an impact on the Nazi approach to physics in general - keeping in mind that many of the world's greatest physicists at the time were Jewish and they rejected what they called "Jewish Physics".
Did this take their scientific and technical pursuits down different unorthodox paths?
I think it's hard for us to the modern West to get a mental model of what the world looked like in the 1930s. It was a lot more multipolar. The British Empire and Germany at the time were considered the most advanced scientific and industrial nations in the world. Germany was in some ways the Silicon Valley or Shenzen of the era. All of that technology and industrial complex didn't just disappear overnight. It got absorbed somewhere.
It's the same reason why I've often wondered whether the same thing didn't happen when the Soviet Union collapsed - what happened to the most secret the most advanced technology in the USSR during the years 1990-2000? Did it pass into private hands..?
Interesting or maybe instead of us changing the world for them, we are created so we eventually evolve to a certain point they can "combine" with us and live here too..? We are fully adapted to this place, its not some barren rock - its teeming with life, viruses, bacteria, fungi - and we have evolved to survive here and thrive. Didn't Bob Lazar say we are described as containers...?
