2.5+ hours to travel about 4km from school to home today for kids around Varthur and Gunjur. This is not a one off situation, happens almost every other day. International schools ,big IT companies & lakhs of people have been living in these conditions.
🚨 This is no longer just a traffic problem. This is a failure that is directly impacting our children.
Varthur–Gunjur needs urgent, war-footing action.
When school children are forced to spend 2.5 hours travelling barely 4 KM through snarling traffic and, this is happening repeatedly- how can this be treated as just another routine traffic issue?
And this is happening during examination season.
Think about what we are putting our children through: leaving school exhausted, sitting helplessly in gridlocked traffic for hours, reaching home late, losing precious study time and carrying the stress and frustration into the next day of exams.
How much longer are children expected to pay the price for administrative inaction?
@CitizenPulseX asks a simple question: How many more 2.5-hour journeys, how many more exhausted children and how many more warnings are needed before Varthur–Gunjur gets the urgent attention it deserves?
Inspections and assurances mean little if the corridors facing the worst crisis continue to be overlooked.
Authorities must act now- not after another traffic disaster, not after another public outcry, but before our children are forced to endure another day of this nightmare.
Everything in Gunjur- Varthur stretch of #Bengaluru east, built over narrow roads, illegal encroachments etc., courtesy, erstwhile Panchayat corrupt administration.
Parents must stop patronising Schools without proper connectivity & also people shall think before buying a property here , as both titles & connectivity are issue here.
Don't have much hopes on connectivity in near future also, as legal hurdles for road constructions are piling up & its difficult to demolish big apartments & buildings encroachments.
Today my daughter’s school bus took 2 hours to travel just 2 km in Varthur/Gunjur road.
For those 2 hours, I sat there as a parent feeling completely helpless.
I work hard. My wife and I pay lakhs in taxes every month. We took a huge home loan mainly so we could live close to our daughter’s school and give her a safer, easier childhood.
And yet, this is what “2 km from school” means here.
In the last year alone, we have seen a school bus topple, a woman suffer serious injuries after a fall, a biker almost lost his life after falling because of a pothole, and many more incidents that never become headlines.
Every day, ordinary people here tweet, email, complain, follow up and plead with authorities.
We are not activists.
We are not fighting for a political party.
We are parents, employees, families and taxpayers asking for one basic thing:
Please give our children a safe road to come home on.
Today, more than the traffic, what broke me was the feeling that despite doing everything a responsible citizen is supposed to do, I had absolutely no power to protect my own child.
If anyone knows how ordinary citizens of Varthur/Gunjur can reach someone with the authority to actually intervene, please help us.

Fix Varthur Stretch in 15 day
@krishnabgowda
Dear Sir,
As a resident of Varthur, I sincerely request you to please visit the SH-35 Varthur–Gunjur–Panathur corridor once.
Year after year, lakhs of residents have been suffering due to unbearable traffic, dangerous roads, missing footpaths, dust, pollution and the complete lack of safe pedestrian infrastructure. Children, senior citizens and office commuters are forced to walk on the edge of a busy State Highway every single day.
The Varthur Elevated Corridor was awarded in 2019, yet residents are still waiting. Different departments cite land acquisition, right-of-way and coordination issues, while ordinary citizens continue to pay the price.
East Bengaluru is one of India’s largest IT and residential hubs and contributes immensely to Karnataka’s economy. Yet Varthur, Gunjur and Panathur continue to be among the most neglected areas when it comes to basic road infrastructure.
We respectfully request you to personally review this project, bring all concerned departments together, fix accountability and ensure a time-bound completion. The people of East Bengaluru deserve safe roads, proper footpaths and infrastructure that matches the city’s growth.
Please hear the voice of the residents.

🚨 Vibgyor High School Road, Panathur–Thubarahalli: A Traffic Disaster Waiting to Get Worse 🚧⚠️
These 3 G-maps tell the story better than words.
A stretch of barely 1.5–2 km on Vibgyor High School Road is routinely taking commuters 25–30 minutes to cross during peak hours. The first half alone consumes nearly 13 minutes, while the second half takes another 12 minutes, turning a short drive into an exhausting daily ordeal.
What's even more alarming is that this is no longer just a congestion issue- it's becoming a serious road safety crisis.
⚠️ Daily reports of accidents
⚠️ Near-zero lane discipline
⚠️ Encroachments and bottlenecks
⚠️ Weak or inconsistent traffic enforcement
⚠️ Unfinished road-leveling work on a critical ~100-meter stretch
Despite repeated complaints from residents and commuters, there has been little visible progress. The pending road-leveling work remains incomplete, and there has been no meaningful update from GBA officials on timelines or corrective action.
This corridor serves thousands of residents, school buses, office commuters, emergency vehicles, and public transport users every single day. Yet commuters continue to face gridlock, unsafe driving conditions, and avoidable delays.
📢 We urge:
✅ Bengaluru Traffic Police to deploy strict enforcement and lane management measures immediately.
✅ GBA and concerned authorities to expedite the pending road-leveling and bottleneck-removal work.
✅ GBA officials to publicly share timelines, progress updates, and accountability measures for this stretch.
The people of Panathur, Gunjur, Balagere, and Varthur cannot be expected to normalize spending half an hour to travel less than two kilometres.
Enough studies. Enough delays. This stretch needs immediate intervention before it claims more time, productivity, and lives.

In #Bengaluru
Apartments residents appeal for ‘ROADS’ as the Varthur-Gunjur Road, with potholes and craters coupled with crawling traffic, makes commute a nightmare. Most of the residents are techies who fix glitches globally.

Much has been written about Finablr’s wrongs, but its Indian business finds little mention.
The mess at UESPL/TimesofMoney only adds to the growing concerns that the companies started by B.R. Shetty are rotten to the core.
