We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder and friend Robert Redford.
Bob’s vision of a space and a platform for independent voices launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world.
Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process.
We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity.
“People need to come and see Africa for what it is, get rid of all the propaganda. Everybody ain’t in CIVIL WAR, every place is not UNREST, every place is not CORRUPT. You gotta STOP that.” ~ @IAmSteveHarvey during @fia awards in Kigali, Rwanda🇷🇼
Artists: Uncertainty & disruption make it easier to do something new. Your rubric of comprehension & sense data-structures are forced to remap a world. As long as you don’t enter a fear-loop, you create new packets of continuity, experience & develop a new cultural nervous system
In the final phase of this project, youth expressed what they love about their neighbourhood. The project represents a means of integrating storytelling and art in order to support youth's emerging identity with their community. And it's a wrap! Huge thanks
As an award-winning journalist and rising film director, Jackie Spinner is no stranger to the world of filmmaking. Her latest project "Morocco, Morocco," has proven to be one of her most ambitious undertakings yet, reports @visualsbymidwa.

.@Ava DuVernay wants her series “Colin in Black and White” to make people consider the little things that have shaped their own lives: “Someone told me once, ‘You have dark elbows.’ So I never show my elbows… This is what life is: it’s the little things that change us.”

I recently wrote a piece about my experience watching the film #Adú directed by Salvador Calvo. Glad to have my reflections published: https://t.co/M23ZRdLNcC
