Have been to so many cities in India. But never seen poster menace like I have seen in Madurai. It's literally pasted everywhere on road medians, bus stands, wall, shutters etc. Ugly. Dirty. Pathetic. Have shame @mdu_corp

Around 1 lakh devotees visited Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple yesterday. 🙏🏾🙏🏾☺️

These visitors support hotels, restaurants, shops, transport operators and livelihoods across the city.

To Central government:

Madurai needs better rail and air connectivity from the other parts of the nation.

It is a key gateway for pilgrims visiting Meenakshi Amman Temple and travelling onward to Rameswaram.

Please add more direct trains and flights to Madurai, with convenient onward connections to Rameswaram. Better connectivity will support pilgrims, tourism and local livelihoods.

Yet, I see damaged roads, poor sewage management, irregular garbage collection, inadequate bins and dusty streets.

We need:
1️⃣ Well-maintained roads and safe footpaths
2️⃣ Proper sewage and drainage systems

#Madurai deserves more than patchwork solutions. The concerns raised here are real, and residents have been living with the consequences for far too long.

Many parts of the city were in better condition a decade ago. Unfortunately, several works taken up under the Smart City Mission have been poorly coordinated, leaving behind damaged roads, repeated excavation, drainage problems and an overall decline in basic urban infrastructure. Development should make a city more liveable, not create new problems for its people.

@CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ, with Municipal Administration and Urban Development under your charge, Madurai now needs direct attention, proper monitoring and a time-bound restoration plan.

The city does not need cosmetic fixes. It needs durable roads, functional drainage, cleaner public spaces, safer pedestrian infrastructure and better coordination between departments.

Madurai has history, identity and immense potential. Please don’t allow neglect and poor execution to define its future.

Give us a cleaner, safer, better-planned and truly liveable #Madurai. 🙏

Ten years ago, the city was in a much better condition. But poorly planned and executed works carried out in the name of the Smart City Mission have caused enormous damage. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Madurai getting a makeover with temporary roads, lamps and now canal covered with cloth where raw sewage is mixing ahead of CM Visit! We were mocking certain states when they did this. Our urban infrastructure is pathetic but sadly Govt only wants to talk on it's laurels...😏
