🇷🇸🇨🇭 Switzerland at EXPO 2027 Belgrade – “Play for Dialogue”
What connects Switzerland and Serbia? A shared appreciation of culture, creativity, hospitality, music, sport, gastronomy and the people who bring our two countries closer together.
In this special feature, the story of Switzerland’s participation at EXPO 2027 Belgrade goes beyond its landscapes, traditions, cuisine, culture and economy. It also explores the unique connections between our societies – including the large Serbian diaspora in Switzerland.
At the end of the feature, H.E. Ambassador Ann Lugon-Moulin @SwissEmbassyBlg , Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, presents the programme of the Swiss Pavilion, built around the theme “Play for Dialogue”. It will bring together several projects inspired by Swiss artists living and working in both countries, including music and theatre, an exhibition of visual art, and a three-day workshop bringing together Serbian and Swiss architects.
These projects are the result of people from both countries working together – a beautiful example of how cultural exchange can create dialogue, understanding and new connections.
We invite our Swiss friends and the Serbian community in Switzerland to visit EXPO 2027 Belgrade, discover Serbia, experience its hospitality, culture, cuisine and the extraordinary diversity of Belgrade – and, of course, visit the Swiss Pavilion. 🇷🇸🇨🇭
🤝 Play for Dialogue.

A formal commemoration was held in the city of Martigny in memory of the tragic fire that recently struck the resort of Crans-Montana, in which four citizens of the Republic of Serbia were injured and Stefan Ivanović tragically lost his life.
The Republic of Serbia was represented at the commemoration by the Ambassador to Switzerland, Ivan Trifunović, who paid tribute to the victims on behalf of the Serbian state and expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He was the only member of the diplomatic corps who addressed the media as part of the official program.
The ceremony was attended by the highest representatives of Switzerland, led by Swiss President Guy Parmelin, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, and other dignitaries. Numerous members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, and religious and humanitarian leaders were also present.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, in the segment reserved for media statements, the attendees were first addressed by the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib. She was followed by a statement from the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Ivan Trifunović, and then by Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis.
On that occasion, Ambassador Trifunović stated:
“On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, I wish to express our deepest condolences to the families of all the victims of the tragic events in Crans-Montana. This tragedy has profoundly affected Serbia, particularly as Serbian citizens were among those who lost their lives. The sorrow we feel knows no borders and unites our nations in mourning and compassion.
I would like to pay special tribute to Stefan Ivanović, who lost his life while heroically attempting to save others. His extraordinary courage, selflessness, and humanity represent the highest values we all strive to uphold. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Swiss authorities, emergency services, rescue teams, medical personnel, and all first responders who acted with professionalism, dedication, and compassion in the most difficult moments. In these challenging times, Serbia stands in full solidarity with Switzerland and with all the families affected by this immense loss.”
A special place in remembrance is held by Stefan Ivanović, the young man who demonstrated exceptional bravery during the fire and lost his life while saving others. In his honor, a separate commemoration was held the previous day in Crans-Montana, attended by local officials, representatives of the cantonal authorities, citizens, and members of the Serbian and Swiss communities.
The commemorations in Martigny and Crans-Montana were marked by dignity, solidarity, and shared compassion, reaffirming the closeness of Serbia and Switzerland in moments of profound tragedy.
After a constructive one-on-one working dinner with Hon. Marco Chiesa, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of States, H.E. Amb. Ivan Trifunović engaged in open dialogue with members of the Swiss National Council & Council of States.
The discussions highlighted Serbia’s social, economic & political outlook and explored ways to deepen 🇷🇸🤝🇨🇭 ties in trade, innovation, culture & parliamentary cooperation between our two partner countries, grounded in shared values of democracy, dialogue & prosperity.
On this occasion, Amb. Trifunović extended an invitation to Swiss parliamentarians to visit Serbia and further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.
30 years ago, Operation Storm led to the largest exodus of Serbs in Europe since World War II. Between 200,000 and 250,000 Serbs were forced to flee their homes, many died, and villages were systematically destroyed. The @weltwoche publication encourages a broad and empathetic reflection on this tragedy: https://t.co/dHXJjdmK81
Special thanks to Mr. @ChrMoergeli for preserving the memory of the suffering of Serbs during one of the darkest moments in the modern history of Europe. Remembering the victims is essential for justice and reconciliation.

🇽🇰🇲🇰 The Mayor of Tetova/Tetovo in North Macedonia, in his welcome speech to Prime Minister Kurti of Kosovo, referred to him as the "special PM of our Tetova" and "the PM of all Albanians."
