Thrilled to finally share our review where we dive into the mechanisms regulating the length of primary cilia in neurons and how this phenomenon might influence cellular signalling!

I'm excited to share our latest pre-print on proximity proteomics of primary cilia in human hypothalamic neurons, led by @VMacarelli, which revealed proteins involved in synapses and neurotransmission and the obesity-associated GPCR LPAR1. Details at https://t.co/LdVSjbvuOu
Happy to share our Science & Society article just published in @TrendsCellBio! We reflected on the value of joint peer review between early career researchers and mentors and you can read it here:

Proud to share our work by a fantastic team, spear-headed by PhD student @Kainerox with major contributions by #xenopus expert @RosiFeistel.
We developed an improved iAPEX-based #ProximityLabeling method for #massspec based subcellular #proteomics.

Thank you so much @TanosBarbara and @MennellaLab for being the examiners at my PhD defense! It was great to have the chance to discuss my PhD project with you!
Congratulations Viviana! @VMacarelli@FlorianMerkle@Cambridge_Uni
Great excuse to get together with some cilia peeps. We are missing a picture here… hopefully we can do that soon!
Even if attending online, I had a great time listening to all the amazing talks! And thanks to the organisers for printing and putting up my poster anyway! Looking forward to the next meeting!

A preprint of this work was posted in April 2023.
3. We generated stable hiPSC lines expressing a membrane construct with or without the successful targeting sequence.
This has been a big part of my PhD project and we hope these resources will be useful for the cilia community!
1. We reviewed the literature for motifs described as sufficient for proteins localisation to primary cilia
2. We used these sequences to generate cytoplasmic and membrane-localised reporter constructs and tested their ability to target primary cilia of hIPSC-derived neurons

New research led by Carolyn Ott, a senior scientist @JLS_Lab, provides the most detailed & comprehensive description yet of cilia in the mouse visual cortex, giving scientists new insights into the formation & function of this small & elusive organelle.

Excited to share that my PhD project has been published in @FrontCellDevBio! Introducing the ZebraReg platform. Hoping our work at @ZeClinics & @nmercaderh lab paves the way for new therapies to combat heart attacks in humans. 🐟 ❤️@scils_eu@ZebrafishRock https://t.co/YJ87vPG6wN
1.our latest preprint on ciliary TAK1 signaling in heart development and syndromic CHD co-led by the Larsen (@LarsAllanLarsen) and Christensen (@s_tvorup) labs. https://t.co/7MY1CgwUkM
Thrilled to share our recent preprint where we explore ciliary targeting sequences in hIPSC-derived neurons @FlorianMerkle@EdwardCHarding https://t.co/P7jFe0DHPv
🤞🤞🤞Best of luck to PhD student @VMacarelli from @IMS_MRL who is taking part in #STEMforBritain today! #stem4brit presenting her poster on 'THE ROLE OF PRIMARY CILIA IN METABOLIC SENSING IN HYPOTHALAMIC NEURONS'
This looks like a fantastic meeting, where @VMacarelli, a talented PhD student from my team, will be presenting our disovery of a compact sequence that targets proteins to primary cilia in all ciliated cell lines we've tested so far, including human neurons. RT and apply!
