You heard it here first: We have countersigned a tentative agreement and the strike is ending.
Stay tuned for the official joint statement from part-time faculty and New School management.
We look forward to returning to our students.
New York Times workers are a one day strike.
This is an outgrowth of the biggest strike wave the US has seen in 80 years- thousands of strikes in the last 2 years
Journalists should start writing about this as the strike wave it is- & what that signifies about the working class
The New School is imposing a requirement that all full-time faculty report on their work, stating that it will cut pay and health benefits for those who don't comply
Leaving aside the legality of this unilateral change in our contracts, this is straight up strikebreaking

The New School announced it is cutting off pay & benefits for striking workers.
The New School's president Dwight McBride reportedly makes about $1.5 million per year.
Part-time faculty @TheNewSchool are on strike until we get:
1. Affordable, reliable health insurance
2. Pay that accounts for out-of-class work & inflation
3. Real recourse against discrimination & harassment
4. Job security & an end to a vicious cycle of precarity
It's URGENT!
You ready for a really radical idea? Firing a worker because they’re sick and can’t come to work. That’s radical. What’s not radical is guaranteeing 7 paid sick days to all rail workers in America. Let’s get it done.
Guaranteeing 7 paid sick days to rail workers would cost the rail industry a grand total of $321 million a year – less than 2% of its profits. Please don't tell me the rail industry can't afford it. Rail companies spent $25.5 billion on stock buybacks and dividends this year.
Part-time faculty are *still* on strike at the New School 🪧
My colleagues and I are demanding @TheNewSchool administration bargain with @UAW7902 in good faith & represent the historic values of this progressive institution 💪
Solidarity with The New School Parsons PT Faculty STRIKE! Did you know they make up 87% of teaching staff & haven't had raise since 2018? Admin salaries 2.3x higher than national average. @UAW7902 via @nytimes#UnionStrong#UnionsForAll#HumanRights https://t.co/ioDLRxrbch
This graphic helps me wrap my head around the magnitude of the problem. Notice the amount of current biomass for wild mammals (in green) versus that for livestock and humans. No wonder we have converging crises of biodiversity, fresh water, and climate. https://t.co/bca7h18Sbp
It's madness that Coca Cola is sponsoring the global climate negotiation COP27, that the fossil fuel industry was the largest delegate last year and might be this year, and that celebrities and participants fly in on private jets - the height of climate injustice. #banprivatejets
@ClimateHuman Most people DO have integrity! A tiny minority don’t and have gained power by convincing the majority their voice doesn’t matter. We must rise up collectively and support the positivity of humanity! #compassion#ClimateAction
