Many of you answered correctly. Yes, that’s none other than Sathuragiri Sundara Mahalingam Temple.

This is one of Tamil Nadu’s most revered Shiva pilgrimage centers, nestled in the Western Ghats near Vathirairuppu in Virudhunagar district.

The hill is believed to have been formed by the convergence of the four Vedas, giving rise to the name Sathuragiri, “Chathur” meaning four, “Giri” meaning hill.

Trek to the Temple:
- The temple is reached through a forest trek of approximately 7–8 km from the foothills.
- The route passes through streams, caves, Siddhar shrines, and dense greenery, making the journey itself a spiritual experience.
- To reach the sacred Sathuragiri Sundara Mahalingam Temple, the most commonly used route is through Thaniparai, the base village for the trek.

From Chennai:
1. Travel by train or bus to Srivilliputhur or Madurai.
2. From Srivilliputhur, take a bus to Watrap (Vathirairuppu).
3. From Watrap, hire an auto or take a local bus to Thaniparai, the trekking starting point.

Trekking time: 3–5 hours uphill and 2–4 hours downhill, depending on fitness and crowd levels. It’s advisable to start early and carry water and light snacks.
