The guy who runs Nvidia and the woman who runs AMD are cousins. Today the President handed them both the National Medal of Science on the same stage.
Jensen Huang's mother is the younger sister of Lisa Su's grandfather. Their family patriarch in Taiwan had 12 children, and two branches of that tree ended up running the two companies that make the chips the entire AI boom runs on.
They didn't even grow up together. Jensen's parents sold nearly everything they owned to send him to boarding school in rural Kentucky at age 9. Su's family brought her to America at age 3. The cousins met for the first time as adults, at an industry event, decades into their careers.
Jensen's first chip job was actually at AMD. He designed microprocessors there before founding Nvidia in 1993. Su took over AMD in 2014 when the stock traded around $3 and spent the next decade reviving it with chips built to compete directly against her cousin's.
And zoom out on the full list from today. Sergey Brin was born in Moscow. Satya Nadella in Hyderabad. Elon in Pretoria. Jensen and Lisa in Taiwan. Five of the six people receiving America's highest science and technology honors started life somewhere else.
One grandfather in Taiwan had 12 kids. Two of his descendants now hold the National Medal of Science, earned at companies built to beat each other.
This is how it happened
He went to see Lafarge Africa CEO and proposed an offer to sell 40% of his company and retain 60%.
They countered with 51% to Lafarge and 49% to Dangote. Alongside a clause that Dangote would never venture into cement again.
But Dangote rejected the counter offer.
@bosuntijani can we do something similar for Nigeria 🇳🇬 https://t.co/zWoWnSgAlE . This can be a Christmas gift 🎁 for Nigerians.

Don’t sleep on Nigeria 🇳🇬, we’ve turned a corner, it’s mostly outsiders seeing it. Nigerians are downplaying our growth bcos of politics
“Africa's third-largest economy has ridden the crude surge driven by the MiddleEast conflict, along with a ramp-up in refined product exports.”
🇳🇬 Nigeria's outlook just improved because of the Iran war...
Moody's revised the country to positive from stable on Friday, citing stronger foreign exchange reserves and growth ahead of expectations, while affirming the B3 rating.
The agency expects Nigeria's current account surplus to stay sizeable even if oil prices fall materially.
Africa's third-largest economy has ridden the crude surge driven by the Middle East conflict, along with a ramp-up in refined product exports.
The World Bank projects growth around 4.2% this year.
Six months of a shut strait has redistributed money as much as it has redrawn shipping lanes.
Iran's exports fell to near zero, Americans are paying about $4 a gallon, and producers well outside the fighting are collecting the difference.

Dear Nigerians,
For many years, Nigeria has possessed some of the most promising deep offshore oil and gas resources in the world, yet several major developments have remained stalled. Oil lies beneath our waters. We have the engineers, businesses and young people capable of doing increasingly sophisticated work in the sector. What has often been missing is the certainty required for investors to commit billions of dollars, over many years, at the scale needed to turn that potential into production, jobs and opportunity for Nigerians.
We cannot afford to leave that opportunity beneath our waters for another decade.
I have therefore signed the Deep Offshore Oil and Gas Projects Incentives (Tax Remission) Order, 2026, to provide clear and predictable terms for a new generation of deep offshore investment in Nigeria.
The framework has the potential to unlock up to $50 billion in investment, beginning with the approximately $10 billion Bonga South West project. For existing deep offshore leases, there is a clear window to reach Final Investment Decision by 31 December 2029 and receive the full standard incentive available under the Order.
There is urgency to this work. Capital moves, and countries compete for it every day. The countries that attract long-term investment are not necessarily those with the greatest natural resources. They are the ones that provide the greatest certainty.
Nigeria must be one of those countries.
This Order marks the tenth major policy directive of my administration targeted specifically at the oil and gas sector. Each has dealt with a constraint holding back investment, production or value creation. Taken together, they represent a deliberate effort to make our oil and gas industry more competitive, attract capital back to Nigeria and ensure that more of the value created from our resources remains here at home.
But attracting investment is only half of my purpose.
I want the work that comes with these projects to come home to Nigeria. I want our engineers involved, our fabrication yards working, our marine and technical service companies securing contracts, and our young people acquiring skills that will remain valuable long after the first barrel is produced.
The Order reflects this priority. For projects accessing its supplementary incentives, activities are to be performed in Nigeria, subject to clearly defined exceptions and Nigerian Content requirements.
My ambition is that we use this new investment cycle to build Nigeria into Africa’s regional hub for deep offshore project execution. We should not only possess the resources. We should increasingly possess the skills, businesses and industrial capacity required to develop them.
When I engaged the Chief Executive Officer of Shell plc, Mr Wael Sawan, I directed my team to look beyond a solution for one company or one project. We needed a framework that could unlock a wider pipeline of investment while protecting Nigeria’s long-term interests.
That framework is now in place.
Ultimately, I will judge its success by what Nigerians see from it in terms of good jobs, stronger Nigerian businesses, greater production, increased revenues for the Federation and new capabilities built here at home.
Our natural resources must work harder for our people.
That is the purpose of this decision, and we will pursue it with urgency.
Nigeria First.

Ten million people have watched an MIT professor accidentally destroy the executive coaching industry.
He filmed the lecture once in January 2018 and died eighteen months later.
Executive coaches charge fifteen thousand dollars a session to teach a third of what he covered in one hour for free.
His name was Patrick Winston. He ran the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory from 1972 to 1997 and wrote the AI textbook every computer science major in the world read for thirty years.
Every January for four decades, he gave a lecture called "How to Speak."
His entire framework fits on a napkin.
Do not read. Be in the image. Keep images simple. Eliminate clutter. Start with an empathetic connection. End with a punch line the audience can repeat over dinner. Never open with a joke. Never end with "thank you."
That last rule alone has probably cost the executive coaching industry a hundred million dollars.
"Your success in life will be determined largely by your ability to speak, your ability to write, and the quality of your ideas. In that order."
That is the actual opening line of the lecture. Winston believed it strongly enough to spend fifty years teaching computer scientists how to talk.
Founders spend $80,000 on an MBA and then hire a communications coach to teach them the same material Winston filmed once for free. Engineers write brilliant code and lose promotions to teammates who watched this lecture on the train.
The lecture is free on MIT OpenCourseWare. The textbook is free on his page.
Winston died in 2019. Almost none of the ten million viewers have actually implemented the four rules on the napkin.
The napkin is free. The willingness to actually use it in your next meeting is the entire edge.

Most Americans still think geopolitics is politicians giving speeches at podiums.
That’s the old world.
What President Trump is doing in Beijing right now is something entirely different:
Using CORPORATE POWER as a geopolitical weapon.
Look at the delegation he assembled for China:
• Elon Musk - Tesla / SpaceX
• Tim Cook - Apple
• Jensen Huang - Nvidia
• Larry Fink - BlackRock
• Stephen Schwarzman - Blackstone
• David Solomon - Goldman Sachs
• Jane Fraser - Citigroup
• Kelly Ortberg - Boeing
• H. Lawrence Culp Jr. - GE Aerospace
• Brian Sikes - Cargill
• Cristiano Amon - Qualcomm
• Sanjay Mehrotra - Micron Technology
• Ryan McInerney - Visa
• Michael Miebach - Mastercard
• Dina Powell McCormick - Meta
This is not diplomacy.
This is strategic market penetration.
Now look at HOW carefully this lineup was built:
🚨 AI & CHIP DOMINANCE
• Jensen Huang (Nvidia)
→ AI chips powering the global AI revolution
• Cristiano Amon (Qualcomm)
→ Mobile chips, telecommunications, next-gen connectivity
• Sanjay Mehrotra (Micron)
→ Memory chips critical for AI systems and data centers
• Jim Anderson (Coherent)
→ Semiconductor materials and industrial laser tech
• Jacob Thaysen (Illumina)
→ Biotechnology and genomic technology leadership
This category alone represents the future of AI, computing, biotech, and technological supremacy.
🚨 FINANCIAL POWER
• Larry Fink (BlackRock)
→ Controls over $10 TRILLION in assets
• Stephen Schwarzman (Blackstone)
→ One of the world’s largest private equity giants
• David Solomon (Goldman Sachs)
→ Elite Wall Street investment banking influence
• Jane Fraser (Citigroup)
→ Global banking and cross-border finance
• Ryan McInerney (Visa)
→ Global payment rails
• Michael Miebach (Mastercard)
→ International transaction infrastructure
These people don’t just move money.
They influence where capital flows across the planet.
🚨 CONSUMER TECH & SUPPLY CHAINS
• Tim Cook (Apple)
→ One of the largest and most sophisticated supply chains on Earth
• Elon Musk (Tesla / SpaceX)
→ EV manufacturing, batteries, AI robotics, satellites, launch systems
China knows these companies are deeply tied into global manufacturing ecosystems.
🚨 AEROSPACE & INDUSTRIAL POWER
• Kelly Ortberg (Boeing)
→ Potential aircraft deals worth tens of billions
• H. Lawrence Culp Jr. (GE Aerospace)
→ Aircraft engines and aerospace systems
This is industrial leverage at the highest level.
🚨 AGRICULTURE & REAL ECONOMY
• Brian Sikes (Cargill)
→ Agriculture, food supply chains, commodity trade
Food security and agricultural imports are massive leverage points in U.S.-China relations.
Now step back and look at the entire picture.
This delegation covers:
- AI
- Semiconductors
- Aerospace
- Finance
- Payments
- Agriculture
- Consumer technology
- Manufacturing
- Supply chains
- Investment capital
Every major economic battlefield between the United States and China is represented in one room.
That is not random.
That is coordinated strategic planning.
The media will frame this as “just another summit.”
It’s not.
This is a private-sector strike force built to secure:
- Market access
- Investment deals
- Supply-chain positioning
- Regulatory concessions
- Tech leverage
- Aircraft purchases
- Agricultural agreements
- Financial expansion
The politicians are mostly in the background because politicians talk.
These people actually control:
- factories
- chips
- satellites
- patents
- software
- logistics
- payment systems
- manufacturing
- capital flows
That is where real power lives in 2026.
Whether people love Trump or hate him, Americans need to understand the scale of what they’re looking at.
This is statecraft merged with corporate power.
And it’s being deployed with military-level coordination.
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!
God bless President Trump!
God bless America!
I marvel when I think of what @AlikoDangote has achieved already(Sugar, Salt, Cement, Refinery) and filled with trepidation and inspiration when I think of what he aspires to do. I call him Apostle in the market place and he reminds me of Apostle Paul, with his tenacity, doggedness and outstanding contributions.
What still amazes me is how he maintains the focus of a monk, keeps the passion and creativity of a youth, moves with the urgency of a startup and carries the burden of a nationalist at his age and level of wealth.
His peers are already satiated with their achievements and wealth, but he still moves with on like Apostle Paul, forgetting the things behind and pressing forward.
Nigerians should be grateful that we have someone like him. He is the GOAT of investors in Nigeria and dare I say Africa.
May the force be with him, may his hands be strengthened to do much more than he has dreamt of.
