Maddox Wells delivered a strong contender for catch of the year tonight laying OUT to keep a run off the board and help @SacredHeart1234 clinch a spot in the regional semifinals 🫡
Our youth system is beyond broken. We’ve devalued real coaches. Kids aren’t developed, they are overtrained, burned out, forced to specialize early & pressured to win at all costs. Structural change is needed. We don’t teach the game anymore! We promote the game & it’s killing us
One of the best group of girls on the planet. Great people Great Parents Great Future. Love coaching them and the effort they give is unmatched. Can’t wait to see them play with the whole team. Fun. times ahead. @PrepGirlsHoops
A gut-it-out performance yesterday by the 14U team of the day..(World Class Sports)Going 3-0 yesterday with their final game being down to just 4 players due to injury .With only 4 girls, they made a huge comeback down 9 w 4m left!

If winning is the #1 goal at the jr. high level, you’re missing the point. The job isn’t to chase trophies. It’s to build people, habits & standards that last. Programs that prioritize development over short-term results don’t just build better players, they build better people.
The week after the live period is when I receive the most calls from coaches. And this week, not one of them asked me about a player’s skills. They asked about character. Work ethic. Attitude. Family.
That should tell us everything we need to know.
Talent may open the door, but character is what keeps it open. Work ethic is what separates you. Attitude is what defines you. Family is what shapes you.
You can be talented and still be overlooked, but the people who matter are looking for more than ability. They’re looking for heart. They’re looking for consistency. They’re looking for who you are when no one is watching.
Tell your kids this: be remembered for the teammate you were, the way you carried yourself, the way you treated people, and the way you showed up every day.
Stats fade. Awards gather dust. Offers and recognition may come and go. But character lasts. Character travels with you. Character speaks long after the game is over.
In youth sports, there is such a huge disconnect between the perception of what learning should look like & what actual learning is & does look like. It’s so sad for players because it steals their joy. You start the grind early, you burn out early & the vicious cycle continues!
Read it Twice - and don’t miss the development word. It’s not how many tournaments or travel you do. It’s developing your skill set. The YMCA opens at 4:30 am not seeing many kids there working on the skills.
Less than 3% of AAU basketball players go on to play in college.
Families are investing thousands in fees, travel, hotels, weekends, and time… chasing exposure.
Make sure you’re not just spending. Make sure you’re actually being developed and evaluated.

There’s absolutely a place for club and AAU ball but the war on rec leagues has done so much damage to access and development and the confidence of the young athlete.
We don’t need another Gold Elite team. We need more Sam’s Auto Repair Little Giants in the parks and rec center.
Now that the April eval is over … can I just say on behalf of MOST (maybe not all) club directors..
Dear NCAA .. please cancel the April live period going forward. Coaches are doing portal visits … filling rosters . Give us May and July and call it good !
