The #peer reviewed #paper is out! It explains how the #weather pattern sets up every autumn and cycles through the next summer and how it’s the same, yet different! https://t.co/eNXL9COee3
Goooooooood morning! The threat of strong to severe thunderstorms will increase once again. This very stormy spring pattern continues with summer now just a 11 days away. Let’s take a look and finish with Rainbow 🌈 and 😎 Sunny to get our day started.
"You can't make this up". Gooooooood late afternoon or evening! I just finished writing the Weather 20/20 Intelligence report showcasing how despite an ENSO shift from La Niña to a developing El Niño, the weather pattern is still the same, which shares the fact I have been sharing for over two decades. Summer begins in less than three weeks and the jet stream is shifting north. A weak storm will be approaching this weekend with an increasing probability of showers and thunderstorms in KC. Any significant severe weather risk will hold off until around the 10th to the 13th. Have a great evening! Here is the link: https://t.co/S4x37d00qN
WEATHER UPDATE (6/2/2026):
The great June weather lasts a few more days, then back to active. Also, it is comfortable because of the lower dewpoints.
I attempt to explain the dewpoint & look at the upcoming changes in our updated @KSHB41 weather blog at:

I gotta give a shoutout to @glezak and weather 20/20 for all the help this week with the weather we have had along with the football games. Such a huge resource helping us do what we do! The Global Predictor app helps us a ton too!
Gooooooooood morning. If you had to choose just one — would you take 100 degrees or 0 degrees? Tell me why in the comments… I will tell you my choice in the first comment.
Now, take a look at this one-page Farmers’ Almanac Winter Outlook. Notice how every single region of the United States has a dramatic headline of something wild happening? That’s how they grab attention — but it’s not science, and history shows these forecasts miss the mark and are accurate perhaps 25% of the time.
By contrast, the Lezak Recurring Cycle (LRC) is rooted in atmospheric science. Each fall, a brand-new, unique weather pattern sets up and cycles regularly—providing a foundation to make accurate long-range forecasts. That means by early December, once the new LRC is established, we’ll release the Weather 20/20 Winter Outlook with precise, science-driven details on temperature and storm risks through spring.
The difference? The LRC has verified at 90%+ accuracy on severe weather forecasts, and we’ve shown unmatched success in predicting hurricanes and winter storms months in advance. The KSHB Bloggers named it the LRC in 2003.
Stay tuned—our outlook will tell the real story of winter ahead. For now, have some fun with this outlook and we will look back in March and see how it did!

Ever heard of the MJO? Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Roland Madden — the ‘M’ in MJO — and we had a fantastic conversation about the MJO and the LRC. The United States is moving into phase 1 of this year's cycling weather pattern, which has been the wetter phase for KC. 25" of the 34" of rain that has fallen since October when the LRC set up has occurred during this phase 1. There is a slow moving summer storm system developing and approaching and it is lining up to potentially have KC near the bullseye of heaviest rain between now and Tuesday. Here is the forecast I just drew up. I will discuss this in our tropical update as well on our https://t.co/4FwpGNyeXN report that I will have posted soon. Have a great Saturday!
A stormy start to the weekend! The ring of fire returns. 5” of rain is possible by Monday night. I’ll have more details soon! Here is the radar at 7 AM. Let me know if you hear thunder and what you are experiencing near KC!

🎯 On April 30, 2025 — live on KSHB-TV — Denise from De Soto, KS asked if it would be cool at the end of July for her daughter’s band practice.
I pulled up the Global Predictor, powered by the LRC, and showed a forecast of 82° on July 31.
Cooler air is already moving in and the forecast for the last day of July 💥 Thursday, July 31st: High of 78°. Right. On. Schedule.
✅ This same app helped her cousin plan a perfect outdoor wedding — in December — weeks in advance.
📺 Watch this clip and see the power of long-range forecasting in action.
No other technology in meteorology can do this — because nothing else uses the LRC.
