Brits giving glowing reviews:
“I didn't mind it”
“Not too bad at all”
“Did the trick”
“Yeah, pretty good”
“Better than expected”
“Fine overall”
“Better than a kick in the teeth”
“Decent”
“I’ve seen worse”
“It was alright”
“No real complaints”
“I ate most of it”
“Yep, okay”
Something a middle-schooler emailed us about:
“A ‘combination lock’ should *technically* be called a ‘permutation lock,’ because the order of the numbers matters in permutations, but in combinations the order doesn’t matter.”

I know very little about US politics, but this quote does suggest that it's not going to be a bumper few years for public transport and active travel in the US...

Today’s reason for being late to my lecture: I can’t cross the road opposite uni because there are about two dozen dockless bikes obstructing the dropped kerb.
@CamdenCouncil what is your process for keeping pavements clear of bikes? And would you agree it isn’t working?
1144 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school.
684 days since they banned women from university.
Afghanistan is the ONLY country on earth where girls are forbidden from learning. How much longer will we allow this cruelty? #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
Today, at Amir Kabir University in Iran Tehran, the morality police harassed her for wearing an improper hijab. In response, she took off her clothes in protest. It’s an act of incredible courage and, at the same time, heartbreaking. I’m deeply concerned for her well-being.
These women are the real freedom fighters.

For some reason, I have been thinking about this moment a lot today.
It's from John McCain in 2008 at a town hall.
The woman begins to espouse conspiracy theories about Barack Obama's nationality.
He immediately shuts it down.
"No ma'am. He's a decent family man."

A small but great example of this is how there’s was this huge freak out out the bee population declining but then next to no one heard about the new population recovery. 1/4
I do not understand why what is going on in Afghanistan is not bigger news. Women now banned from “hearing other women’s voices” https://t.co/TVWg85VeE1

@contourgeek @iwengraf Yes! Differences between real-time information on apps and bus stops drive me up the wall!
It is the false precision that really gets me. On the app it could include info (e.g. colour coding) of the quality of the estimate for each arrival (e.g. how recently that GPS pinged)
What is happening recently with @FirstinGlasgow? Bus service between Broomhill and the uni has always been pretty patchy, but this past week it has completely fallen apart.
I have a PhD in Transport Studies but I cannot understand how your 'real time information' is so bad! 🤷♀️
@PaulMcG2023 Absolutely. It is not a First Bus specific problem. I just included them in the original tweet as that is the company I have had bad experiences with over the last week and the info has been noticeably worse than usual.
