Our lab is now two years old! Feeling very lucky to work with such a talented and motivated group of people.
Celebrated our lab anniversary (and some other good news) with a poolside lunch on campus🏖️
One-year taught MSc in Global Plant Health with five-month research project. David Sainsbury 50% Fee Scholarships available for home students. Apply now for 21 September entry. Deadline 28/8/26 for home students. https://t.co/2lONT0tFnn
I just published: We still publish one paper at a time. Nobody reads science that way anymore
Publishing is stuck in one mode. Reading has already changed.

I am really excited to share the first chapter of my PhD, where we characterise a genetically linked NLR/MLKL pair underpinning the Rwt3 resistance locus in wheat! With yet another KFP involved in monocot immunity 🌾https://t.co/rYcd3FjXqB

PbGH3 has been on the clubroot community radar since the very first Plasmodiophora brassicae genome was published. For years, it was thought to act mainly through auxin conjugation. In this study, we show that the story is more interesting: PbGH3 reshapes root architecture and promotes early root hair colonization, but its role appears to be linked to salicylic acid-associated hormonal crosstalk rather than acting as a canonical auxin-conjugating enzyme.
If you're at #PlantHealth2026 and interested in clubroot, insect vectors, or molecular plant pathology, come say hi! We currently have several PhD positions available in the lab (but didn't have time to advertise them), and we're always excited to meet passionate scientists.
Congratulations again, Melaine! #ProudPI 👏
We have been busy this July! The latest GetGenome newsletter is full of exciting highlights, and lots of amazing resources, available to everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone🙏
Farewell to the #TSLSummer2026 participants. Always amazing to host and interact with such passionate and enthusiastic early-career scientists. Best wishes for the next steps of your careers 🥂
It's been a great two weeks of immersion into plant immunity, pathogenesis and vector biology. Thanks to our early career participants for their own research and curiosity, the keynote speakers, and all the local science and support teams that made this possible. #TSLSummer2026
