He says that he will mention "only innocuous accounts," which implies that there are much worse ones. He recalls that he and his Muslim friends repeatedly stole soft drinks at fast food restaurants by ordering water. Another cousin was "caught committing minor insurance fraud."
Nabeel Qureshi tried to tell us about izzat:
"We wrestle with the honor-shame principle that tells us, 'It's okay as long as you don't get caught.' If there is no dishonor, it is not wrong."
@DreamweaverAF I wasn't aware of those situations, thanks for mentioning them. But the pope isn't excommunicating James Martin. He won't excommunicate the German bishops.
Whatever vice may be overcoming you, what often follows is unhealthy self-loathing that leads to diving into the vice to greater degrees. Hate the vice, yes, but know that you’re a valuable being made by God for so much more. God’s forgiving hand is open and His grace extended. Just as He causes the sun to rise, so He gives a new day and new beginnings. His mercy is new every morning.
@tonybeard So authority of any kind is evil? No pastor, no civil magistrate, no father? Because if you have authority, then you're not being a servant.
@DadaAlpaca I'm optimistic that the modern missions movement laid the groundwork for a future Christian global civilization of discrete nationalities. Otherwise we're just going to get pounded into anti-Christ goo.
@DreamweaverAF You are blessing the gay sinners together, that's basically condoning the marriage. Meanwhile there are LGBT masses and pro-gay German bishops and the Vatican just lets it happen.
@PaulAnleitner This is the natural consequence of secular liberalism. A society in which transcendence and meaning are forcibly denuded from all public spaces.
@DreamweaverAF It's 100% true. The Vatican allows priests to perform LGBT masses and same-sex blessings, which is the same thing as condoning the marriages themselves.
The very concept of the success is deeply immoral. If you are successful the other is loser. We shouldn’t accept it. We should prosper or suffer together. Otherwise it is satanic.
So this is actually true in the workplace and in the Church but it's not true in the home.
In fact, women and children will resent you, if they see that you're being sacrificial at the expense of exercising meaningful leadership over the existential.
@bendellwerry The Oscars have diversity requirements for Best Picture awards and Nolan is too much of a coward to just step over them and make a good movie.
In the 1500s, Europeans commenced on a Christianization of the globe. The task is not yet finished, but it must be taken up. The infrastructure is ours, the calling is ours, it belongs to no one else.
We live in a global civilization that was created by Europeans. Much of that infrastructure has now been perverted in the interests of an anti-European, third-worldist ideology, but the fact remains that this civilization was and is fundamentally European.
The great struggle of this century will take place over this infrastructure. Currently, Western secular liberals are contending with the nascent BRICS faction. But the reality is that this infrastructure was not built even by liberals, but by Christians.
