@Pykeview@WolfeIslander3@C_Mulroney Jason, my dad told me a story about a time back in the 70’s when he was working on the ferry and there was a snow storm, the plows were stuck at the “foot” (East) end of the island and the crew had to bring bull dozers over to clear out the plows. His shift that day was 42 hours!
As a teacher, pulling my own child out of a publicly-funded, world-class #onted school system to keep them safe this week bc our own govt won’t is not something I could’ve ever imagined having to do…but I was forced to do it. We are here bc of your inaction @fordnation@Sflecce
While it’s great we are treating the vaccinated differently, Ontario will continue to not know how widespread COVID-19 is in our schools.
Clearly, this is the agenda of Dr. Moore, @fordnation, and @Sflecce.
Today, the 5 most vaccinated states (14M people) had
580 people in hospital, 12 deaths
In the 5 least vaccinated states (16M people)?
6,600 hospitalized, 104 deaths
Per capita , least vaccinated states have
10X hospitalizations and 7X deaths
So yeah, vaccines are working
💉Vaccines sitting in freezers in Ontario: 985,132
💉 Vaccines coming this week: 822,630
- 160K teachers in Ontario
- 25K grocery store workers from UFCWU
- 280K from CUPE
We could vaccinate all of these people above & still have 1.34 million left. #CheckTheFreezerDoug#onpoli
🏫✏️ Please don’t let the suggestion of a March Break cancelation DISTRACT from…
1. No current asymptomatic testing in 99.8% of Ontario schools;
2. The “revised” screening tool which does NOT suggest SYMPTOMATIC TESTING for a student with a fever, cough, and loss of smell.
⭐️⭐️ LET’S REPHRASE THE MESSAGING FROM @fordnation & @Sflecce ⭐️⭐️ “We are indifferent when it comes to your child’s safety at school & can’t cope with the testing backlog. That’s why we’re updating our screening tool to discount symptoms commonly associated with COVID-19.”
We have had many Ministers of Education in Ontario. Some who were exceptional student-focused leaders & deeply respected. Others clearly were out of their depth but acknowledged they were trying their best. Current Minister has NO understanding of child, parent, staff needs.
Ontario's Sick Kids Hospital calls for mandatory masks for older students as part of school reopening recommendations. Report also calls for ban on large assemblies, staggered lunch hours. https://t.co/me1PlqewCq
@Sflecce Remember that time you scrapped the health curriculum & we went back to 1998 because how dare our kids learn about LGBTQ2IA issues and rights? Or the time you cancelled the indigenous curriculum writing? Equity is only important to secure votes. We see you, Stephen. #FireLecce
