The Government is currently deciding whether to increase the minimum wage. MBIE will tell them that doing so will cost jobs - last year, MBIE predicted that a $20 minimum wage would cost 9000 jobs.
I OIA'd the model on which that prediction was based. Friends.... it's not great:
@MamaDoctorJones Kia Ora. I'm at the other end of the country, but will be great to have more people being passionate about science and health and being so outspoken.
@johnneh I am glad you and the family (I count pets as family) are able to enjoy yourself on holiday. But I wish I had your awesome streams to watch during the lockdown in NZ
Very interesting. I have to admit I have been apprehensive about the widespread use of nuclear power generation, but I am certainly starting to reconsider my opinion.
Certainly something that I need to look into further
Who remembers Chernobyl - 35 years ago? Sequencing a cohort of individuals exposed to high radiation and their children shows no increase in de novo mutations!

@icklenellierose@MichaelBWarman I don't want to sound like a know it all but am a genetic researcher, and maybe you are interested. One of the genes responsible for Cystinuria and the gene responsible for Cyclic neutropenia are located on the same arm of the same chromosome, so these could be linked
This is THE most comprehensive human genomic sequence data you can find today. Perhaps more importantly, it is public like the 1000 Genomes data. NHGRI and HPRC have worked hard to make this happen.
@ClementYChow Yes, using the premium version. I have found it is also good using the text to speech function in word to have writing repeated back to you. More likely to pick up on what is actually written, rather than what was intended to be written
