Happy birthday to the “Mother of Paleontology,” Mary Anning! Born #OTD in 1799, she hailed from Lyme Regis on the coast of Dorset, England, & grew up collecting fossils. A few of her many accomplishments include unearthing one of the first ichthyosaurs & discovering Dimorphodon!
U.S. President Donald Trump has fired all 24 members of the National Science Board, the body that oversees the National Science Foundation. Many science advocates see it as the latest step by his administration to erode—some would say destroy—the independence of the 76-year-old research agency. https://t.co/5LrByFdzHz

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.
Good morning, world! 🌎
We have spectacular new high-resolution images of our home planet, all of us looking back through the Orion capsule window at our Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon.
For the first time, officials at the U.S. National Science Foundation have spoken publicly about how President Donald Trump is now calling the shots at the $9 billion research agency, with his administration reorienting it to focus on the twin White House priorities of #AI and quantum information science. https://t.co/bRiJUc8PW7
As the U.S. doubles down on glyphosate, a widely cited study asserting its safety has been retracted after it was discovered the paper was ghostwritten by Monsanto employees.
This incident, and ghostwriting in general, harms scientific integrity, writes Naomi Oreskes in a recent #ScienceExpertVoices article. https://t.co/Qb3fMGAluF

The NSF GRFP solicitation has been posted. Only first year graduate students are allowed to apply (and undergrads). What about all the second-year students who have been working hard on their applications for months!? And to give absolutely no notice or explanation is absurd!
