Oh boy, brace yourself :) -> Time chief operating officer Mark Howard has explained how the US newsbrand is already commercialising an invisible bot-readable version of its website which is used to promote sponsored content
Some interesting quotes below...
Time COO Howard said: “People come to the website https://t.co/XCXUTHLsj8 as you can know it, and we all experience it. Bots go to a markdown page, where it’s a stripped-down version, the content metadata."
"He added that Time is now working on a “pure data product that doesn’t even get published to the web… it’s just marketing to the bots” because, he said, “bots not only are increasingly able to purchase, but they are informing purchases much more, and that’s only going to increase.”
“We have streams of content that we’re feeding them with only the content that they want, the content that we have the rights to license, so there’s a lot going on there.”
Speaking on a panel sponsored by Equativ and Propeller, he said: “We’re now working with different brands on doing branded content programmes, where specifically we’re building content for that purpose, we’re routing that content to the markdown pages.”
He added: “We know that our domain authority, in terms of the AI bot activity from those LLMs, is already very high, and by being able to push it through that specific channel we are taking it one step further.”
Howard said Time was looking at a “whole suite of different product offerings” seeking to influence how brands are portrayed on AI answer engines – which also include branded content on Youtube and Linkedin.

Google lost ~5% of traffic share in the past 10 months (35.11% → 30.53%).
Everyone thinks AI search ate it.
Well…
▪️ AI search: 0.22% → 0.26% (+0.04pp)
▪️ Social: 7.67% → 8.24% (+0.6pp)
▪️ Paid: 13.99% → 17.15% (+3.2pp)
^ that’s across ~75k websites in @Ahrefs’ panel.

...
AI search gained almost no traffic share. And it makes sense. AI search is zero-click by nature. It answers questions, it doesn't send traffic.
The real winner? Paid.
Businesses are losing organic clicks from Google and compensating with ad spend. They have no choice. They still need customers on their websites.
So Google pushes AI Overviews, organic traffic drops... and businesses respond by giving Google more money for ads.
..or at least that's my read on the situation.
What's yours?
@lilyraynyc Ironically I would suspect that the disclaimers are also AI generated haha. Also “SEO Agency” query aside did they forget about how/why legitscript came to be?
Embeddings are becoming a key layer of AI search retrieval.
After @Kevin_Indig showed that 44.2% of ChatGPT citations come from the intro of articles, I dug into how embeddings from Google, OpenAI and Perplexity influence what gets retrieved and cited.

@chris_nectiv Add @firecrawl and a dedicated serp scraper (I use @scrapingdog) to that stack! You can also plug-in @GammaApp as well to help generate decks for the insights you want to highlight.
sooo much more you can do
Today at @yoast we’re shipping something I've actually wanted to see on the web for some time (even before working at Yoast) and am now honored to be part of the team to bring this to the masses...
Built in collaboration with the Open Source and NLWeb team at @Microsoft lead by @rv_guha (co-creator of https://t.co/hfaa7afrtA, RSS, RDF and other web standards) - we're introducing the Schema Aggregation feature: a "schemamap" endpoint that outputs your site's entire structured data map in one place.
Under the hood, we now provide a standardised, deduplicated map of your entities via a single endpoint. An agent no longer needs to crawl all individual pages to understand its meaning but can now ingest an entire entity map with ease.
A few details to note about the endpoint:
- It's is cacheable with sub‑100ms responses
- It respects existing privacy and indexing settings
- It aggregates all indexable content without navigation noise
- It merges duplicate entities so your "Author X" or "Article Y" exist as a single node instead of being re‑discovered on every URL.
- If you're using one of our paid plugins that extends schema even more (such as Yoast WooCommerce SEO adds product schema) this will be populated within the endpoint too
- If you already extend Yoast’s Schema API, or use partners like events or recipe plugins, their entities are pulled into the same map automatically.
For me, this is one of the first major ways the agentic web can ingest a site at scale, and with much more efficiency and context. It has also been so much fun to work with this alongside the team at Yoast, particularly the genius mind of @schlessera.
Lastly, we have also launched a schema visualisation tool to view how everything is output. You can enable this feature today with the free version of Yoast SEO.
I came across a job description this week that required 5 years of GEO experience... household name btw.
So what you really mean is SEO and HR genuinely has no idea what they are hiring for?
REPEAT AFTER ME
GEO only takes 2 weeks to see results
The playbook? Just get featured in listicles
We were able to get into 100 listicles for under $100

Google Patent Info: If you thought AIOs angered people, just wait for AI-generated landing pages from Google. Yes, Google could create new landing pages from the SERPs if yours isn't good enough (based on this patent). Great catch from Joshua Squires at Amsive on LinkedIn -> AI-generated content page tailored to a specific user
And sounds like it could be used for advertising AND organic... It's worth checking out the patent.
*The system would calculate a "landing page score" for the organization’s existing website. This score evaluates how well the current page meets the user's specific needs.
*If the existing landing page is deemed insufficient (the score exceeds a certain threshold for improvement), the system triggers the AI generation.
*An AI model leverages the user’s search context, location, and past preferences to pull data from the organization’s site and re-package it into a new, intuitive interface.
*The user sees an updated search result page with a navigation link leading to this custom AI-generated page rather than the standard URL. https://t.co/JFI5nijijx
