🧵Since it is becoming hard to track, here is a thread of the simply astounding weather records planet Earth has started shattering in recent weeks:
1. Dramatic flood events have begun striking various countries around the world simultaneously this week.

Have you ever wanted to use different human TNBC cell lines of different metastatic potential but did not know which ones were poorly or highly metastatic in mouse models? Check out our new manuscript spearheaded by @sjconner96 1/n

Today we report that an engineered skin bacterium, swabbed gently on the head of a mouse, can unleash a potent immune response against a distant tumor. @yerinchen led the charge w/ help from @DjenetBousbaine, @VeinbachsA, @BelkaidLab. @ScienceMagazine 1/26

Interested in single cell genomics but need help getting started? Check out my lab's Single Cell Genomics Day on April 7. Talks will feature recent exciting computational and experimental advances and will be livestreamed at https://t.co/zG98gkckMU. Please RT/spread the word!
So excited to share this review led by @WillLe_LTT - we go in depth into what is known about different types of nerves in tumors and review all the in vitro and in vivo approaches used to study the role of nerves, and discuss their pros and cons. #cancerneuroscience
Our first contribution to the cancer-nerve interaction field is out! We dissect the effect of sensory nerves on TNBC cell migration and metastasis and show that nerves drive changes in gene expression in tumor cells. https://t.co/IPES9jE9Tr
Congratulations to Dr. Will Le, 2nd PhD student to graduate from the Oudin lab at @TuftsEngineer!! So proud of all your hard work on a challenging project tackling the role of nerves in breast cancer!!
I had a great time presenting my work and listening to the awesome cancer researchers here at @TuftsUniversity. Thank you to the organizers @MadeleineOudin and @kmunger for the opportunity!
This paper contains the bulk of the work I did at @TuftsUniversity@TuftsEngineer and I'm proud to see it out! We explored how you can control #breastcancer cell behaviour by changing their bioelectric properties ⚡ specifically using potassium ion channels 🍌🔋
So excited to share our first contribution to the cancer neuroscience field. This project was led by @WillLe_LTT first PhD student in my lab. It's not easy being the first PhD student and taking on such a challenging and new project, but Will did a fantastic job! A thread...
Cancer researcher @MadeleineOudin named a New Innovator by @NIH; grant will support research into a critical pathway to tumor growth.

I’m thrilled and honored to receive the DP2 New Innovator Award to dissect the neural identity of tumors @NIH_CommonFund#NIHHighRisk This is a story of perseverance and determination. I want to share it to inspire others to not lose hope in the face of rejection. A thread 1/14
The Oudin Lab is hiring! We are looking for post-doctoral researchers to join our team. We have several funded projects going on in 2 main areas in the lab - the role of the ECM in metastasis and chemoresistance and the neuronal identity of solid tumors.
Reviewer trashed my entire grant and me as an investigator because ‘probes used for RNAseq’ of co-culture of human cancer and mouse nerve cells are not able to differentiate between species. Shouldn’t NCI reviewers know that probes are not involved in RNAseq?
Check out our latest preprint on RNA Seq of cardiac fibroblasts across the developmental spectrum. Great work by @LukeRPerreault in collaboration with @MadeleineOudin and her student @WillLe_LTT!

Very excited to share our new paper out in @ScienceAdvances today! We found interesting similarities between the ECM composition of mammary glands from obese and tumor-bearing mice and used those to identify Collagen VI as driver of tumor cell invasion. https://t.co/HVgWGGCmgr
My well-scored DP2 aimed at dissecting the role of nerves in metastasis will not be funded. The main criticism was 'the lack of acknowledging the fact that the neuronal connection to the metastatic effect is likely to be overridden by genetic and epigenetic alterations'. 1/n
friendly reminder in times of uncertainty and misinformation: anecdotes are not data. (good) data is carefully measured and collected information based on a range of subject-dependent factors, including, but not limited to, controlled variables, meta-analysis, and randomization
