Amidst the cold and unwelcoming climate of the UK, the Windrush Generation found solace in blues and shubeens, vibrant house parties fostering comfort, connection, music, dance, cultural expression, and unity. They shaped the UK's multicultural landscape. Happy Windrush Day!
We explored the maths behind #Windrush75 this week. Students looked at the jobs that people had before they boarded HMT Windrush. Did you know 0.2% of passengers were judges? We also analysed the shocking reality of the ethnicity pay gap that still exists in the UK. #ThisIsAP 🧮
Today, we offer reflections on those people of the Windrush generation who nurtured and sustained us to achieve when they were constantly and unjustly denied. We honour you.

Today marks 75 years since the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush at the Port of Tilbury. Thank you to everyone who responded to Britain's call to rebuild this country after World War Two.

I ran a poll to ascertain if schools & workplaces plan to commemorate #Windrush75
Sadly, some ppl clearly found recognising contributions of Black Britons impossible & resorted to denying history, racism & personal insults
This is exactly why we MUST teach #Windrush & #TBH365
