Steven Kapos calls the global anti-genocide movement a "warm family". May this family keep growing:
1. as an antidote to the despair of living in an unjust world
2. to remind politicians that their wrongs are seen
3. for the Palestinians to know that they have not been abandoned
Does Pierre Poilievre really think he's more qualified than an Oxford PhD economics grad, Executive Director at Goldman Sachs, and former governor of two central banks 🤔😂
I am left wordless at the unimaginably dystopian cruelty of this.
That we move from the starting point of completing genocide by expelling & ripping Palestinians from their land, history, culture, homes & lives in Gaza.
To actually believing that solutions lie in sending them to (1) Sudan, a country torn apart by civil war and a catastrophic humanitarian crisis; (2) Somalia, which has been ravaged by decades of mass human rights violations, armed conflict & anarchic governance; and (3) Somaliland, which has not been recognized as a state by any country in the world.
There could not be a more visceral reminder that in Washington & Jerusalem, Palestinian lives simply do not count.
This must be roundly condemned & rejected @MarkJCarney@MelanieJoly.

Israel’s decision to cut off electricity to Gaza’s main operational desalination plant, a week after it halted the entry of all humanitarian aid and commercial supplies, including fuel and food, violates international humanitarian law and is further evidence of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip.
"No trucks entered Gaza this morning, nor will they at this stage."
Israel follows Trump's extortionist (and unlawful, just saying) playbook. No more humanitarian aid unless you do what we want, even though it is not what we had previously agreed.

MSF strongly denounces Israel’s announcement to block aid into Gaza. Humanitarian aid should never be used as a tool of war. Regardless of negotiations between warring parties, people in Gaza still need an immediate and massive scale-up of humanitarian supplies.
"Israel is once again blocking an entire population from receiving aid, using it as a bargaining chip. This is unacceptable, outrageous, and will have devastating consequences," says MSF’s Caroline Seguin. "The news has created uncertainty and fear, causing food prices to spike."
While the overall number of trucks that entered Gaza has increased since the ceasefire started, restrictions by Israeli authorities on critical supplies are hindering the humanitarian response. Most of the aid that entered was food and fuel, not nearly enough to meet the people’s immense needs.
It was utterly despicable to watch Trump & Vance tag-team as they ganged up on & mocked the president of a country facing a vicious & unlawful war of aggression, war crimes & crimes against humanity, launched by a despotic tyrant. Spewing lies & disinformation, full blown narcissism (why have you not said 'thank you', - of course the Ukrainians have shown incredible gratitude - being more important than understanding the harrowing realities on the ground in a warzone). The full-on pompousness of suggesting that Ukrainians do not want peace?! Of course they do, but they crave peace that is genuine, peace that will last, peace that respects rights, peace they can trust. There seemed to be nowhere lower that Donald Trump could take the United States in our world, but today he certainly found that place.

Hamas's release of bodies of 4 Israeli hostages including a mother & her 2 young children –one of them just a nine-month-old baby when abducted-serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the urgent need to immediately release all civilian hostages & Palestinians arbitrarily detained.
Because it hasn't already been 16 months of hell in Gaza?
There must be a global push back against Donald Trump's vicious Gaza threats. Ramping up genocide & expelling Palestinians is not only diabolically cruel & unlawful, it is no path to peace.

#Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin @netanyahu, against whom the @IntlCrimCourt has issued arrest warrant accused of war crimes, has entered the United States without facing any repercussions.
This is what impunity looks like
My detractors cannot wrap their head around it: I am not paid by anyone for my work on Palestine, not even the UN. Special Rapporteurs serve pro bono. And I have so much fun at doing what I do, you know why? Because I despise bullies, mafias and apartheid. It is in my DNA, and I will fight all three happily till my last breath. Now, minions, get a life.
How about if we were to convene a Global Summit on forging a new post-US world order? Little doubt the guest list would be a long one. Rather than just grimace, cope & sacrifice, it’s time actively to reject & turn away from US hegemony, which has become tyrannical & contemptuous of human rights under Trump.
That @realDonaldTrump's 1st move against another country is the US' closest ally, with an immense shared border, integrated economy & connections going back generations, says it all about his warped view of the world & twisted understanding of friendship. https://t.co/9JINlkieBX
I spent the day in Montreal with courageous migrants workers who shared harrowing stories of abuse under the Temporary Foreign Workers Program.
Our new report —out today— will shock you. Join us and call on Canadian authorities to abolish closed working permits.
Amidst deep objection to everything Trump espouses, the idea that any land should be "cleaned out" of its people or any people "cleaned out" from their land is perhaps the epitome of his inhumanity. He has no sense of or concern about the very essence of what it is to be human.
Take action to stop the chaos and cruelty.
Sign the petition and tell President Trump to stop mass deportations and create real solutions that uphold dignity, fairness, and help communities thrive.

#Gaza: We are devastated to report the death of Bilal Okal, our colleague killed by Israeli forces in Jabalia, North Gaza, along with 10 of his family members.
We strongly condemns the killing of Bilal and his family in their home by Israeli forces.

I spent six years in the US as a kid in public school and junior high, and now in my fifth year in New York. We’re an ally and friend of the US, and a close trading partner. But we’re our country. The French and the British have taken a long time to accept the reality of losing empire. As Canadians we are having to do the same with respect to the indigenous peoples who are rightly asserting their own identity and sovereignty. Shaking imperial habits is hard. But it has to happen. Great damage and hardship is caused by failing to accept others as equals, possessing their own identities and values. Threatening force to achieve dominance is never a good thing - in our personal or our political lives. It will be met by implacable resistance.
