@arampell@peterpham I’ve had a lot of the same conversations with friends and family. They don’t realize FSD is no longer a marketing gimmick. It’s actually “self-driving”.
Your audience doesn't want your product.
They want what your product gives them.
Trust.
Status.
Peace of mind.
Efficiency.
Direction.
Figure out the desire first.
Then build the brand around it.
@nikillinit it's a tale as old as time. change is hard and resistance to change is more natural than adoption. most people don't want to learn the new thing.
General public doesn't understand how fast the world is about to change. The magic reminds me of my first @Uber ride over a decade ago, except this time, car drives you.
Steven Bartlett, host of The Diary of a CEO, one of the world’s biggest podcasts, on Tesla:
“My car outside drives itself, which is crazy. I don’t think people outside the US realize that cars in the United States can drive themselves for hours without me touching the steering wheel or pedals.”
Watch. 👇
a lot of the new AI / agentic powered advertising platforms make the assumption that marketers want to actually do the work. I'd argue that's wrong most of the time.
Influencer marketing sells attention. Podcast advertising builds trust.
Both work.
But they solve different problems.
If you're choosing between them, start with what your brand actually needs:
Attention now?
Or a relationship that compounds over time?
@jai__toor i'm sort of going one step further from what you're saying. Agree that GTM eng is 10x more valuable, and then also saying, it'll fuel you're larger eng/product org behind them since your eng team is now on the front-line and getting the larger org informed faster on
to work on.
The Tesla that Jessica just bought cost $48k and has a range of about 350 miles. The one she bought in 2015 cost $135k, adjusted for inflation, and had a range of 270 miles. People who think they dislike capitalism don't know how good they have it.
A better product doesn't always win.
A better story sometimes does.
Your product can be great and still get ignored.
Your features can be copied. Your pricing can be undercut.
Your story can't.
That's why founders need to stop hiding behind the product and start telling people why it exists.
Millions of impressions look great.
Until you ask how many people actually cared.
That's the difference between reach and impact.
Podcast advertising isn't just about how many people you can reach.
It's about reaching the right audience, through a host they already trust.
