All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The Basic Principles of Genuine Christianity ✟
(Biblical Thread) #WordOfGod#Jesus#Salvation#Christians
- Saved by Grace Alone #SolaGratia
• Ephesians 2:4-5: "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are Saved by Grace!"
• Romans 5:10: "For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!"
- Through Faith Alone #SolaFide
• Ephesians 2:8-9: "By grace you have been saved Through Faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
• John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
- In Christ Alone #SolusChristus
• John 14:6: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
• Romans 10:9: "If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
• Acts 4:12: "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
• 1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is [only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus."
- According to Scripture Alone #SolaScriptura
• 1 Corinthians 4:6: "Do not go beyond what is written."
• Isaiah 8:20: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
• Acts 17:11: "They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth."
• 2 Timothy 3:15: "You have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus."
• 2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
• 1 Peter 1:23: "For you have been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through The Word of God which lives and abides forever."
• Ephesians 3:3-4: "The mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ."
- For The Glory of God Alone #SoliDeoGloria
• Romans 11:36: "From Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him [God Alone] be the glory forever! Amen."
• Psalm 96:2: "Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day."
• Ephesians 1:5-6: "He [God] predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."
• 1 Peter 2:9: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
We can objectively bridge the gap between the original audience and today by using the grammatical historical method, without needing an additional infallible authority. Disagreement and misinterpretation don’t logically entail the need for an infallible interpreter; that's a non sequitur.
Jesus repeatedly held the jews responsible for what Scripture says (“Have you not read?”) even without an infallible interpreter, and error is treated as a moral failure due to hardness of heart (John 5:39-40), ignorance of the Scriptures (Matt. 22:29), unbelief (Luke 24:25), and limited spiritual discernment in this life (1 Cor. 2:14).
Here is a precise question I would appreciate you answering directly: If an infallible magisterium were necessary for Scripture to retain its meaning, why does Jesus hold Israel accountable for the teaching of Scripture itself?
Responding to one claim in your video, Hebrews 4:12 presents Scripture as a living, active agent, making “anthropomorphic” language not a rhetorical tactic but a biblical reality. Btw congratulations on your second child!
Good to hear from you too, and I'm glad you're still active here.
That graph makes sense assuming there are more infallible sources, but in light of 2 Tim. 3:16-17 we can safely conclude that there are enough clarifications within the Bible (when using The Analogy of Scripture) to live the fullness of the Christian life.
Btw I'm still gonna get back to you on our last discussion regarding the Church father's view of the Eucharist. I still have your responses saved.
@AlitheiaKAT@rickbrennanjr How is Mt. 16:18 even remotely related to the belief that "the Magisterial charism of their office is protected by the Holy Spirit" and how does that imply infallibility?
Roman Catholics often argue that while Scripture is infallible, private interpretation is not—and therefore we need an infallible Magisterium. But even if we grant that premise for the sake of argument, a problem immediately appears: who interprets the infallible Magisterium?
We’re right back to square one. The only difference is that the infallible Word of God has now been replaced by a fallible human interpreter. And in doing so, the very Word God gave to free humanity has been chained to a human institution.
So here’s the simple question:
If interpretation is the problem, how does adding another layer of human interpretation solve it?
@IndianaBrunner Great post, also, I think that when God says in Daniel 12:4 that knowledge shall increase as we near the time of the end, that could also be applied to the knowledge and interpretation of his revelation as a whole.
