Bats: our favorite creatures of the night (although we might be a bit biased).
But they're not the only nocturnal critters pulling an all-nighter. Our latest blog post explores some of the other nighttime fellows: https://t.co/pPBS5HjvyG

Last week was International Bat Week (Oct 24-31), a celebration to raise awareness for bat conservation. Big bats, small bats, furry butts, big ears, hairy toes, sub-tropical, and high-latitude bats. These are just some examples of the variety of 🦇 that inhabit our 🌎.
"Without the bats, tequila and mezcal wouldn't even exist. If people want to keep drinking tequila and mezcal, they have to take the bats into account, they have to be concerned about conservation."

Today is the International Day for Biosphere Reserves. Here are some pictures from my research sites in the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve, designated by the @UNESCO in 2005, to show my appreciation for this region. We need to keep working together to protect these places. 🤲🏼🌎🦇
Earlier this year I executed a series of educational outreach activities about bats for the community of Puerto Williams in Navarino Island, Chile (Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve). 🦇Chats, 🦇Walks, and 🦇-ty activities for the little ones too. Thanks to all involved, let's do more!
I recently finished my MSc degree from the University of Helsinki in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. My thesis was on the activity patterns of high-latitude sub-Antarctic bats in southern Patagonia. It is now available open access for all to read! https://t.co/mkM3UDYWS3

🌎🦇 Vampire bats’ ranges aren’t shaped by climate alone; human pressures are key.
Check out this new 📄 showing that while D. rotundus thrives with anthropogenic expansion, specialists like D. youngii & D. ecaudata may lose ground.
