@fwdemail@levelsio Trying out your service, so far favorably impresssed, but I can't seem to get a response via either [email protected] or the help form (which appears to just send email). Leaves me wondering how I'd get help in case there's an issue in the future.
@Fastmail No point. I already had to temporarily shift my mail handling to my web host, and am evaluating more permanent alternatives. There’s simply no recovering from going completely MIA for 24 hours while your core service is broken.
@Fastmail@ScottMoseman@pobox After 10 years with pobox, you broke my email with the migration, and I can't even get a response from support.
I can't recommend emphatically enough that people stay far away from fastmail.
@Fastmail@ScottMoseman@pobox You're kidding, right? My aliases are still configured as they were, but everything now forwards only to my primary address, regardless. 2 tickets open. 24 hours later support hasn't even acknowledged the issue, let alone responded substantively. No other way to reach support.
@stevesi Odd to cite data to make an argument, but then dismiss data to make the same argument.
Of course, suggesting that one city’s increase is attributable to a preferred local explanation, while ignoring the very similar increases everywhere else, is far from unique.
@stevesi Did reduced drug enforcement in Washington increase crime across the country?
According to this:

Seattle’s increase in street crime appears to be at or below average, for everything but homicide. (But homicides in 2022 were actually less than 2020.)
@StevenTDennis Closest I come is having grown up on a property that still had multiple outhouses, a defunct manual well, and we only got ABC and CBS affiliates on our 12” B&W TV. 😂 (Too deep in the sticks for cable to be an option, not that my parents would have sprung for it, if it were.)
@jonburkeUK That was my reaction when I visited Gothenburg and saw the bike paths there. If we had such here in NY — rather than asking-to-be-killed lanes between parked cars and traffic — then biking would be an option to take seriously.
@Noahpinion How do you account for the difference between your claim that CA admissions have fully bounced back, and WSJ’s claim that across 9 states that banned affirmative action, enrollments remain very different, and not reflective of underlying demographics?

@sayitinswe@pschofie79 This is standard advice given to hikers in bear country in the American west, also — sing, talk, or otherwise make noise while hiking.
@joerogan@shellenberger One doesn’t need to debate bad-faith actors in order to rebut bad-faith claims.
The implication that direct debate is the only reasonable means to respond to such is, at best, horrendously misguided. At worst, it’s a bad-faith act in itself.
@balajis@AriDavidPaul On balance that’s probably true when you’re talking about debate between good-faith actors. Debate with bad-faith actors is much more likely to simply elevate the bad-faith actor and the bad-faith claims they are promulgating.
@RadioFreeTom@hughhewitt upon seeing video of Hillary Clinton jay walk: "I think she's going to be indicted."
@hughhewitt upon seeing video of Donald Trump stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone: "That's it? No evidence of a paid contract or defiling the body or anything?"
