Cheol d’Arc — the man who’s stood his ground at Olympic Park despite constant attacks was arrested again today. Rumors say he’s a U.S. citizen and that the U.S. embassy once came out to check on him, but no clear details were ever released. However, two days ago he was briefly detained on a charge of pushing someone in a wheelchair, a charge that turned out to be false; the person pushing was actually behind him.

Tonight’s arrest is known as alleged assault. He turned on his flashlight because it was dark, both to make sure the situation could be captured on camera and to protect himself from the people pressing in around him. Yet even that has been twisted into an offense.

What disturbed me was also the police conduct. They took him down hard, pressing his body against the wet ground as they led him away. Witnesses say he was hurt in the process. Meanwhile, a group moved through the crowd removing U.S. flags and ripping down Aweb postings, replacing with Taegeukgi and cheering as he was dragged off. They celebrated his arrest.

Why are these people, some supporters of the PPP, so obsessed with ripping down American flags and Aweb content?
Why target Cheol d'Ark who is simply trying to guard the gate? Shouldn’t people be grateful to those who voluntarily come out to stand guard over the ballot boxes?
Cheol d'ark even came all the way from the United States to Korea to help protect them. So why does his presence bother them so much? Is he getting in the way of their plans?
Why can’t they stick to their own positions and let others do the same?
